Wet UFH Limited by Floor Probe Temp

Yes each room has a thermostat, I tried raising the floor probe temp to 30* and that helped. I've replaced all insulation in the loft now, so will see how it fairs.

Wet UFH Limited by Floor Probe Temp

So my ufh has been working well but has been struggling a litte during this last cold snap. The combi boiler is set at a flow temp of 55*c the manifold is set to supply 45*c and the floor probes act as a limiter with a max floor temp of 27*c. Centers were 150mm sitting on 200mm of celotex.The...

Insulation - cold roof meets warm roof

Hi, I have exactly the same issue. Can I ask what you ended up doing? I've just topped up the cold pitched roof to 300mm of knauf insulation, and have managed to insulate up to where the warm roof starts on the dormer but there is still ab airflow in place. Can I safely fill the void with more...

Cutting Off Upstands and DPM After screed layed

So our flow screed was finally pumped in on Friday, I've got someone coming to sand it later this week. I've still got upstands, slip layer and dpm which are coming above the screed level (on purpose) which now need cutting flush. Will this need to be done prior to the sanding? and secondly can...

Do I need to foil tape PIR joins before slip layer and screed?

So I've finished the pir insulation layers for my new solid floors. I've filled and foamed any gaps between joins between the pir sheets and against the walls. But now wondering if I should tape all joins before I put down my 500 gauge sheet to prevent the flow screed getting under? I will be...

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

Ok thanks, I wish building control were more helpful! Ok so if I swap out the 25mm eps for 25mm pir and also try and use an expansion strip. Would the strip go behind or infront of the upstand? I'll end up with dpm lapped up the wall, upstand + expansion, then a slip 500 gauge layer over the...

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

Yeah that was my thought too, i.e. surely it will compress. He did mention something about if it does compress that it won't return as it has no flexibility unlike eps which will, and so that's why they recommended also not using pir, but hey ho. I'll see how much rework will be to fit pir, but...

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

PIR isn't recommended due to it been so dense as it doesn't have sufficient flexibility for slab expansion (apparently). The upstand I thought was only to prevent cold bridging with the walls, there isn't the same contact surface to be a major issue, or perhaps I'm missing something? I've not...

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

What thickness of upstand? and was it pir?

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

Density as I was planning to skip an expansion strip, instead just having an upstand

Help UFH floor sensor routing, how?

plan was to have a flow temp of 45 degrees set on the manifold, hopefully bring temp down to 55 ish on the boiler as we still have upstairs rads. I've been told to not let the floor exceed 27 degrees, but not sure how low I can get away with on the manifold until I run it, pipes are going to be...

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

Building Inspector suggested not to use pir for the upstand. I had originally planned to use it

Help UFH floor sensor routing, how?

So the lvt im planning for all rooms downstairs has a maximum floor temp of 27 degrees, hence needing to guarantee the floor doesn't get hotter than that. With it been flow screed Im not sure I'll be able to float something in it as I won't be installing it

Help UFH floor sensor routing, how?

Wunda have advised me to run a small channel in the screed once set so the sensor is in contact with the flooring rather than bury in the screeded layer.

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

150mm pir in the kitchen, complete dig out. and 225mm in the other rooms which used existing concrete slab below suspended floor. We've got eps70 25mm upstands all around walls internal and external.

UFH difference in insulation height between kitchen and hall

So the finished insulation floor height in my kitchen is about 12mm lower than the hallway due to an issue with the concrete depth being off to what was specified. The wet ufh loops are going to all rooms downstairs and for the kitchen loop it will need to cross this 12mm height difference, the...

Help UFH floor sensor routing, how?

So i've got my plans back from Wunda and about to start laying in the next week, however I need to install a floor sensor to measure and restrict maximum floor temp to preserve flooring correctly. This is what I'd be installing https://heatmisershop.co.uk/remote-sensor-probe-3m/ Now the...
