    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Thanks for that - found it on parts diagram - possibly got dislodged when dissembling. Dont even recall seeing it before which probably says something. Out of interest - the mixture screw only has quarter turn on it. Clockwise lean, anti clockwise enrich?

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Defo fuel - I drained the tank and carb bowl, refuelled and problem solved. I didnt bother cleaning the carb again as I couldn't possibly clean it anymore. I dont recall ever seeing a micro switch on this model - I will check the parts diagram otherwise its a linkage / cable check. Ive had this...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Problem No2 The engine speed dies when engaging the rotor. If the rotor clutch is engaged slowly the engine appears to cope. If the clutch is engaged 'normally' it dies. It used to kill the engine but the new fuel appears to give it enough energy to catch and keep going. Possibly running too...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Okay (apologies for delayed update) Basically all the aforementioned problems stemmed from poor fuel! Fresh tank through clean carbs and no problems (I think the carbs were good anyway) - lesson for me - fresh fuel every three months so Im not taking more than 3Lts at anyone time in future. As...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Morning John and thank you for the advice - Im not sure I need to remove the pilot mixture screw but useful to know. Stupid place to put it as you can't access it when the carb is mounted - you have to remove the air filter and the carb falls off. The picture I attached was one I took prior to...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Hi John - thanks for your comments. I do think there maybe some cylinder wear as its a few years old but I am not overly concerned - generally it runs really well and I dont lose oil. Carb was completely stripped emulsion tubes etc etc twice except for the small captive quarter turn screw (I...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

I thought I would drop an update for anyone remotely interested. Having stripped down the clutch and anything remotely connected all was re assembled and the bloody thing wouldnt start. Strip down the carb, clean (twice - hunting first time), new gaskets, fuel etc etc and we have a mower starts...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

On this model the belt is tensioned by a spring pulling on a plastic rear roller drive transmission so I am not sure this would generate the metallic knocking - I am sure its centred on the braked rotor clutch so I will try pulling the blades around as you suggest and take a closer look at the...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Hi John, I am going to embarrass myself here but I didn't see anything which I took to be idlers when I started stripping last night. Where are they located

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Started to pull the rotor clutch off expecting to find something obvious but to my untrained eye things look pretty standard. bearing feels reasonable and no parts fell out. I feel sure this is clutch related as the metal knocking sound only occurs when the rotor is in the process of being...

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Thanks for the comments posted - Im about to take a look shortly and will post a video if allowed. I have been advised to check the belt idlers (I can't visualise ATM but hopefully all will become apparent very shortly

    Honda 476 Blade Clutch Noise

Trying to research a metal knocking noise experienced when I engage the blade clutch. The mower idles fine and runs fine once the blades are spinning but the transition from idle to full operation generates an awful noise. Bearing initially looks good but having it apart tonight for closer...
