    Changing thermostat to Hive system

Just wanted to say thanks for the help. Only got round to it today as I didn’t want to mess around with things while we had a cold snap. The Hive thermostat definitely seems to think it’s a degree warmer than it actually is. The decision now is whether I tell the missus that ;)

    Changing thermostat to Hive system

Definitely single channel. It says on the inside of the receiver.

    Changing thermostat to Hive system

It’s just one Hive mini and nothing else like the radiator valves etc.

    Changing thermostat to Hive system

I’ve decided to try a Hive thermostat due to getting frustrated with how basic my old one was. Could anyone advise on connecting this using the same wires as the previous receiver. I don’t really want to mess around with the inside of the boiler. I found another thread on here which puts grey...

    Shower making screaming noise

Previously my hot tap in the kitchen would barely work while the shower was on. Now it works fine and seems to stop the noise if it’s run at the same time as the shower. Makes sense if it’s pressure related I guess.

    Shower making screaming noise

Had a new shower installed 10 months ago, it’s been working great but last night it starting making what I can only describe as a screaming noise. It happens on both the waterfall shower and the second smaller shower head, although if you run the smaller shower head at a low flow, it doesn’t...

    Combi boiler cycling

Yeah that makes sense. Ultimately it is doing its job, I’m purely worried about the wear on the boiler for it cycling on and off in short times. I’m wondering if the TPI is messed up. It did all of the “learning” when we only had two radiators connected. And I'm not joking, we may as well have...

    Combi boiler cycling

I think it must be thermostat that is causing it to click off so quickly then. When I increase the temperature on the thermostat from the current room temp, it has no issue with the flow going up to 70 and working as expected. I’ll try the minimum on time today and see what that changes.

    Combi boiler cycling

Thanks, will try those today. Just a quick one, if the flow temp is at 40, boiler clicks on and it goes to 50, then it clicks off again, that means that the problem is unlikely to be an overpowered boiler? The return temp is surely not the bit causing it to click off.

    Combi boiler cycling

I’ve managed to change the sensitivity of the thermostat. It was previously set to 0.0 - I’ve moved it to 0.5 to see if there is much of a difference. I’ve also got a separate device to show the room temp and it doesn’t make the thermostat look very accurate. I’ve changed the thermostat to 18...

    Combi boiler cycling

Hi John, thanks for your replies on this. I’ve had to do some reading and understand what a lot of this actually means. The thermostat definitely has the TPI function. It explains why is used to show the flame icon but doesn’t any more. I’m not sure if it matters that all of the “learning” it...

    Combi boiler cycling

Thanks for the info. I can’t see anything about the thermostat having TPI and certainly can’t see any settings to change it. It seems very basic. For some reason the flame icon doesn’t appear on the display any more when it’s calling for heat, even though it did last year. I’m wondering if it’s...

    Combi boiler cycling

That’s function to do with hot water to the tap right? I can tell it’s the central heating with the light clicking on and off on the thermostat receiver. https://www.wolseley.co.uk/product/center-rf-wireless-programmable-boiler-thermostat/

    Combi boiler cycling

Hi all. Long one but I might as well try and give you all the info in one post. I had a new Vaillant ecofit combi boiler fitted last year. It was only powering two radiators due to our renovation being early stages, I’m not sure if he adjusted any settings to ensure this was fine with the...
