    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Will see what it's like once I get it insulated I guess. I have a remote monitor so will see when the heater comes on

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

One of the aims is to keep it heated though. Only at around 15 degrees though. The temperature currently goes down to around freezing.

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

The goal is to keep the garage at an ambient temperature and reduce humidity. The humidity in my area is very high so there is a chance the humidity will rise in the garage. The garage has two up and over doors so some air will get in there. There are 4 airbricks letting loads of humid, cold...

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Thanks Woody, I will just go for it tomorrow and constantly monitor humidity levels.

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Do you think I should just finish the insulation with the PR boards and just put in an extraction fan on the roof then?

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

It does help a bit, maybe I am over worrying! Although in my garage right now it's 4 degrees Celsius and 87% RH

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

The more I research this, the more confused I get. Was thinking about some sort of trickle vents high on the wall, maybe 4? It's a 5m x 5m garage. Not sure what to use in a stud wall for this purpose. Plus I have permeable membrane on the outside of the stud which I would need to cut through...

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

So no passive intake vent? Or passive intake vent and this?

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Just an electric heater, it's just for storage and possibly a workshop at one point. Temperatures get down to freezing at winter.

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Thanks for your feedback Woody. The goal is to keep the detached garage relatively warm, reduce humidity and dampen sound. I am looking to store stuff in there and might put in a partition wall and make one half a workshop. My main concern is if I seal the garage there is no-where for any...

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Hey woody, the garage was built with the airbricks - I believe that is because of building regulations? They have put 2 at a lower level at the front and then 2 at the back higher up. My interest is the ventilation within the insulated studs though. The garage humidity level are around 80RH at...

    Ventilation through garage stud walls

Hi guys, I have insulated my single skin garage by putting up a stud wall in between the pillars of the garage. I have been advised that I need to add ventilation to prevent the build up of humidity inside the garage. The garage will be kept at an ambient temperature. There are 4 airbricks...

Single skin garage stud - awkward area

Thanks for replying - I appreciate your input. I am using it for storage so it will be kept at an ambient temperature. The humidity in the garage is very high due to weather conditions. I have a DPC running underneath the studs. I am asking in here as I am not experienced at building...

Single skin garage stud - awkward area

I am thinking of creating 2 studs either side of the electrics and bracing them with a header plate. That way I can fit the membrane and they will then fit in the space, almost like creating a door opening. Any thoughts? Is this daft?

Single skin garage stud - awkward area

I did consider that but it's single skin and there is a small risk of moisture ingress so thought this was the best way to go.

Single skin garage stud - awkward area

Membrane is belt and braces, there are vents there and it is very humid. I am just trying to minimise risk. I am leaving the electrics on the wall, might bring the switch out. Was going to put a small insulated door over them for access.

Single skin garage stud - awkward area

Hi there, I am insulating my detached single skin garage. I decided to build studs in between the concrete columns using 3x2, a permeable membrane on the outside and PIR insulation with a air gap between the concrete wall and the stud. I construct them on the floor, attach the membrane then...
