It was just a tiny one 0.16L I had lying around just to test it out. It’s charged to 3.5bar. If it reduces the noise I’m on the right track when will order a bigger one. I put a gauge on it before the inlet - What was happening it was bouncing from 3-4bar in a sharp spike when a tap closed.

Thanks! Fixed it! Hammer arrestor on the inlet before the ICG. Must be because of the PRV stepping it down from 4 bar to 3 bar was knocking it.

Ok. Just need to do some rerouting of piping. I only asked because putting it before the ICG would have been easier as it’s in a cupboard upstairs - more room!

Hi thanks for checking. I think you’re right that ball valve has a check valve in it!! Missed that! This that hammer arrestor is under the sink - you still think it needs a 2L vessel?

Hi can you help me make sense of this... I've fitted a pressure gauge to my system. It reads 4.5Bar initially, but if I open and close the kitchen tap rapidly it goes up to 8bar! It stays there even if I open the kitchen tap fully or close the water meter and run the kitchen tap empty. It only...

Sorry I meant - we have a shock arrestor which is on the main pipe right after the water meter to the house. So ages ago I checked the pressure of the air side and it was low. But what I'm finding is if you charge it to 3.5bar and then disconnect the pump you loose some of that air pressure due...

    Water hammer

So I had a brain wave tonight....there's already an arrestor after our water meter into the property.....now I've tried charging this before but I find due to the small 0.16L volume it quickly loses pressure when removing a pump fitting. So I overshot the pressure to take into account the loss...

So back thinking of putting an arrestor on the main inlet or off the balanced connection......ever seen this being done before? Just easier than fitting one to every tap/outlet

I was debating today whether to buy one. It’s so much quieter now.

Think I fixed it! Strainer had loads of gunk in it! The reason why I never questioned this is I thought it would be the first thing a plumber would have checked and therefore was looking for other problems!

hmmm Here's more info - so if I open another tap even just a trickle and go and open and close another the noise doesn't happen.

The guarantee ran out anyway due to a lack of commissioning docs. The installer is ignoring me requests so kinda just given up. It’s only one of the small ones like 0.16L. Yeah I remember the manufacturer suggesting this going down 0.2 each time. Last time I tried this I was getting down to...

    Water hammer

Yeah checked that! I was just having a play now and I'm wondering if the hammer is coming from the multibloc - you said there's a one way valve in there? Could these make noises?

    Sorry - yes it is.

I see. So there is a 3bar shock arrestor after our main stopcock which enters under the kitchen sink. But the cold inlet for the cylinder is upstairs in a cupboard. Are you suggesting a shock arrestor before or after the multibloc? Yes - that just cuts the water off coming through the taps if...

Thanks - what I don't get isn't that what the EV is suppose to do?

Is there any scenarios where the mutlibloc would cause hammer?

    Water hammer

OK did the test above it shows 3 bar consistently no matter what I did

    Water hammer

Hi - they didn't. They said "this should be pre-set from the manufacturer" - it says 3bar on it. From memory it seems to read 3 bar on the air end no matter what I do - but I can check again. Btw random question - how does the system remove the air below the expansion vessel given it's the...
