    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Got held up with other stuff. I will report back on here when I've made some progress. Keen we all learn from this!

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Yeah just dishwater, hosepipe and kitchen cold off the mains. The rest of the house goes through the balanced cold.

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

It depends on the time of day. I think if there's positive pressure from the HW connection it's not as loud

If it is that's crazy it's been replaced and both had the same problem!

    It’s a new ICG!

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Caleffi were confident it’s not the NRV. But the more I listen the more I think it’s the ICG I don’t have the old one as I put it in the bin!

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Not since I put the PRV in. More like 4.5 during a spike now.

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Hi, I’ve done that before. Near the ICG it’s never spiked more than 5.

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

The house had one arrestor T’d off the water meter. I added a second one before the ICG. That pressure gauge was on the second hammer arrestor. I tried opening the PRV yesterday. It just made the noise louder. That’s why it’s showing slightly more than 3 bar

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

I was having a little play tonight. I connected a gauge to the mini expansion vessel valve just to see. This sits before the ICG

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Yeap going to get some plastic piping probs at weekend and see. I did actually ring Caleffi UK yesterday - they were so helpful! The guy spent a good 30mins talking to me about the issue. He also thought the hammer was weird.

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Random thought tonight. Could a pipe bend too close to the balanced cold port cause issues?

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

    I'll give it another go!!

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Yeah tried that - it's hard to do because the shock is so strong you can hear/feel it on the inlet pipe, balanced cold, cylinder feed and even the EV leg!

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Sorry what I meant was if I open and close the hot water tap - you're still getting flow from through ICG but rather than going down the balanced cold connection it's going into the cylinder. It doesn't hammer when I do this. I'm confused though because someone said there's no NRV between...

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

So this mixer is feeding all the hot taps in the house? Got me wondering now - as I've never checked this! Picture might be a small wait as I need to remove the bath panel which is sealed in!

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Sorry I probably missed this point there is a mini shock arrestor before the PRV, but I think thats the one you were suggesting making a bigger volume? That's what I'm thinking if during a heating event there is pressure build up and this is just pushing the NRV enough so it doesn't hammer...

    Water hammer from unvented cylinder

Wait so it's not just hot directly from the HW cylinder? I actually thought that mixer was something to do with the shower as it was under the bath! :)
