Hi, I've just removed my old light fitting (12 watt piazza) & am about to put up a standard 60 watt screw-in type fitting. Can I just wire it up the same way the old one came off? One thing I have noticed, is that there is no switch to turn it on & off with. It runs straight from the PIR.

i've got a multimeter, but not sure how to measure the PIR. I'm not a sparky, thats why I came on here for help. I'm actually a mechanic.

how would i measure that?

yes it is about 9" round, & it had a 16 watt fluorescent bulb in it

the pir still works, as i can hear it clicking on & off. One thing I have noticed is a fitting inside the house (behind where the outside light is, but at floor level) with a blanking plate on it. do you think that could be the switch for the light.

yes the old light worked before I removed it, but its a new light fitting, with a standard screw in 60 watt bulb. The old fitting had a 12 watt push in bulb, shaped like an M

what size bulb should i fit, as i dont know what the pir is rated at?

i've tried it with a bulb i know works, but still nothing. I've also tried a normal bayonet light fitting, but nothing there either.
