    How to install this threshold

Any suggestion on how to install this threshold? How can I hide the screws? I am not really sure what the white guide is for. As you might have guessed the 8mm part needs to go on top of the laminate floor. My idea would be to ignore the current holes in the laminate floor, use the guide and...

How to cover cables exiting floor near consumer unit

Thanks for the advice. I think I will go with the screen option. See the new pictures. - You can see the joist on the right. I will screw one part there - It will be free standing on the left, just on the right of the gas pipe - I will cut it so it goes around the wires.

How to cover cables exiting floor near consumer unit

I don't feel very comfortable drilling into the wall. Also, it is a bit 'crumbly. It does not to support any weight. Could I just attach it to the existing board? Or use some kind of 'feet' and avoid any fixing?

How to cover cables exiting floor near consumer unit

Hi I have a small opening in the corner of the floor of a storage room, directly below the consumer unit. Several cables come through this opening and run off to other rooms. The rest of the floor is hardwood, and I’d like to cover or protect this area so it’s tidy and safe, but still...

Install cabinet back panel from front?

Hi, I need to fix a melamine cover panel inside an existing cabinet to hide what’s behind it. Constraints: • Panel must be installed from the front only. • No access from the back. • No top panel (drawer above), so no fixing from inside. • Clamping is not possible...

What is causing these cracks under the shelves

I noticed these cracks under the shelves in my storage room. It’s an old building in Scotland. If you touch it’s a bit crumbly, but the wall is quite solid. The shelves are quite sturdy. Any idea what is causing it and how to fix it or clean it up?

    Adaptor for old bathtub tap.

Hi, I’m not an expert. I would like to add a shower hose to this tap. As you can see, it has a strange shape. Is there any kind of adaptor? It looks like it could be unscrewed, but I wasn’t able to. Do I just need to use more force? Thanks. Ruggiero

    Advice on repairing damaged wall

It's quite solid actually. I don't think it is lath and plaster. It's a bit flaky where you see the holes. Especially close to the boards.

    Advice on repairing damaged wall

Hi, Premise: I am not a professional. This is a wall in my storage room. The paint and some plaster have come away, and the surface is in poor condition. Is there anything practical I can do to make this wall look better without a full re-plaster? Thanks Ruggiero

    How to renovate this door

Hi, I'm looking for advice on improving the finish on an internal wooden door. The surface is quite rough in places and has some small raised spots or bubbles. The finish doesn't look very flat or even, especially around the mouldings and panel details. It looks like it has quite a thick layer...

    Could this be a stopcock

I assume you mean the little tip (is that the spindle?). I tried with pliers and it feels quite hard to turn (clockwise). It is bit hard to reach Honestly, I am afraid to break it and flood the house.

    Could this be a stopcock

Hi, We just moved in our new flat and we need to add a little hose. We are not able to find the stopcock. According to the neighbours there is a stopcock outside the building, but one of the neighbours told us that he has a stopcock in his bathroom (not sure about location yet). The only thing...

Job done. Managed to pull it out. It was quite jammed. I found 4 coins, 3 screws, 1 small plastic tube and lots of other crap. The new filter fits perfectly. Thanks for the advice.

    Fix sunken floorboards

Hi, We found this nice surprise under the carpet in our new flat. The floor is a bit sunken around the filler (is that screed?). How should this be fixed properly? I am not going to do it myself, but I would like to understand. Thanks!

I tried to attach a photo, but I get an error. It says that it is too big, but it is only 500kb. Maybe it is because I am new user? This is a dropbox link to the photo
