Replacing Gate Valve with Auto Bypasss Valve

Ok, fitted auto bypass valve and all seems ok. When I came to set the pressure it opens at as per your suggestion above I found that even wound right down it still seems to let some water through as the pipe is getting hot on the other side of the valve straight away, whereas I was expecting it...

Replacing Gate Valve with Auto Bypasss Valve

Unfortunately we do not live in a 6 bed house :( The plumber that supplied and fitted it said at the time there were non of the correct size available and would do the larger one for the same price. I guess it is probably not quite as efficient as using the correct size boiler for the system...

Replacing Gate Valve with Auto Bypasss Valve

Ok thanks for the advice chaps. Having looked at the prices it seems to be a lot cheaper to get a 22mm valve and reduce it down to 15mm...

Replacing Gate Valve with Auto Bypasss Valve

Ah I see, so with the heating on, hot water off and all the TRV's have closed there will be enough flow through the one rad with no TRV to avoid any damage to the pump and system? Or the other way round with heating off and hot water on only? Altering the pipe work should not be a problem...

Replacing Gate Valve with Auto Bypasss Valve

Could someone advise please? Our Heating system is open vented with an indirect hot water cylinder. The boiler is a Glow Worm Ultracom 30 HXi and the pump is a Grundfoss UPS 15/50. The radiator pipework is 10mm microbore and there are TRV's all but one radiator. Currently there is a 15mm...

Kitchen concealed hinges - awkward angle

yeah sounds a bit odd but it's because of the shape of the kitchen and the location of the outside door. Would be easier to show with a picture...

Kitchen concealed hinges - awkward angle

Tried a search but didn't get anywhere. I have made kitchen unit where the front is at an angle to the other units so I need hinges that will close past the usual 90 degrees - maybe 20 or 30 degrees more. Any ideas. Google wasn't much help... Thanks :)

    Water Meter Q - Leak?

I have been meaning to do this for a while, i have put lids on, just need to get some insulation... I won't loose any sleep over it then :) Ahh interesting, I'm glad it is below average although it still seems to cost a lot. However South West Water are one of the more expensive I...

    Water Meter Q - Leak?

A cup full isn't much I suppose, although I have a lid on the loft tanks so it shouldn't loose that much through evaporation should it? Maybe I'll turn off the stop cock as suggested and try it over a day again. 241 litres a day sounds a lot  our shower isn't a pumped type but the...

Thanks dangermouse good to know that it is normal. So how much water does 0.0004 equate to on that meter?

    Water Meter Q - Leak?

Also we are using around 22 units a quarter with two adults in the house - does that seem about right? We very rarely wash cars and never hose the garden... It is coming out less than being on rates but having this flippin' meter fitted has made me paranoid

    Water Meter Q - Leak?

Hi Chaps, Have a look at these pics with the time stamped on them taken morning and eve of the same day whilst we were out at work and nothing in the house that uses water was on. As you can see the 0.0001 needle has moved a by what looks like 0.0004. How much water does that...

    Painting stained artex ceiling.

Conficting advice on the PVA then :?: I think compared to the ceiling you have described above Zampa mine is not half as bad so for simplicity I will give the oil based UC a go and see how I get on. Thanks again guys.

    Painting stained artex ceiling.

Thanks guys, oil based undercoat it is then - presumably it will say oil based undercoat on the tin? How much would you thin it down by with the white spirit? Cheers :)

    Painting stained artex ceiling.

I have done a few searches on here and just want to confirm what I plan is correct before going ahead. I need to paint some nicotine stained artex ceilings. I don't believe they have been painted before but need to confirm this. For a previously unpainted ceiling I plan on using a thinned...
