Have just moved house. At some point all the paintwork in one bedroom has been painted with gold paint!! Can this just be covered with undercoat and gloss??

Could anybody tell me if there is a specific time span for rewiring a house. I am in the process of selling my house which was renovated between 20-25 years ago (inc electrics). To my untutored eye they look in pretty good shape. My buyer has heard that rewiring should be done every 25 years...
