    Plasterboard repair after removing tiles

Hi, I've taken off old tiles ready to be replaced with new one's and as expected it has damaged the plasterboard quite a bit, removing paper facing and deeper layers. What is the best way to repair this please prior to re-tiling, can I skim it with something or best to replace the plasterboard...

External IP65 CU off existing Wylex box?

If the house RCBO trips, then the inverter can still power the studio sockets as sockets RCD has not tripped? Ok think I understand. So MCB to replace RCBO in house CU? The electrician did say when he wired my studio if I get nuisance trips may need to replace it.

External IP65 CU off existing Wylex box?

Thanks for the detailed reply. I understand about the disconnection time and need for a separate circuit. Don't understand why the split load CU in my studio wouldnt prevent this problem though. If the RCD for the inverter circuit trips wouldn't that kill all power sent from the inverter...

External IP65 CU off existing Wylex box?

If I was to replace the studio CU with a split load model, with 2 RCDs, and one RCD has a single MCB dedicated to the Inverter that would be OK?

External IP65 CU off existing Wylex box?

Just to add, what if I had the electrician add an RCBO into my studio CU and we wire the inverter off that, would that be acceptable as effectively it would have it's own RCD ? My house CU only has RCBOs in it.

External IP65 CU off existing Wylex box?

Great, thanks for your input, appreciated. I don't know whether the SWA circuit from the house requires an RCD. I wouldn't have thought so as I have an RCD in my existing studio CU that the SWA connects to so everything in my studio is going through this RCD.

External IP65 CU off existing Wylex box?

Hi, I have a 20A RCBO from my house CU feeding my garden studio via a 2.5mm SWA into another CU in my studio fitted with a 30mA RCD and MCBs. I would like to have an external FCU on the outside of my studio to which I can wire a Solar inverter (via AC isolator). As the inverter needs it's own...

    Spare part for soldering iron

Indeed. Thanks, maybe I should just buy a new soldering iron. Any idea if I can keep the base station part with the temperature control and then fit a new 50W iron - or are these things not interchangeable?

    Spare part for soldering iron

Ah, partial result, I found the tip... So I just need the right kind of nut thing to retain it. A bit more digging and this station is also known as a Velleman VTSS5 with BITS5 tips 1.2mm apparently.

    Spare part for soldering iron

I have a Maplins 50W solder station and seemed to have mislaid the end part of my soldering iron, I have new tips but believe I need some type of screw attachment/nut to fit them, anyone know what the part is called or if it's available? Thanks!

RJ45 & Power by starfire posted 30 Mar 2018 at 11:20 PMHi, Anyone know of some sort of waterproof box I could use to house this connector (from an IP camera) and a passive POE splitter inside ? I cannot cut the connector as its hard wired into the camera. Thinking of some sort of waterproof...

    Reliable magnetic surface contact

Bit of a thread wake up, I fitted the YEND74 as recommended but noticed today testing my system that it wasn't working - never reported the door being opened :-( I removed the outer cover, didn't touch anything else and then it started working again, strange... Don't seem to have much luck...
