    Single damp brick

I must admit my lack of knowledge, I can understand what your are suggesting and I think thats a good place to start, however I wont have a grinder (I presume thats like a wheel saw?) is it possible to remove a brick like this by hand, or would it take forever?

    Single damp brick

Thanks for the response.... unfortunately I don't have a dog and this is wall is inside the garage so it wont be a neighbours dog either, although that would make it a lot easier to explain :? I'm interested your response was: Could be a dirty brick tie transferring a small amount of damp...

    Single damp brick

I understand giving remote diagnosis to a problem is difficult but I would appreciate any opinion on this. I found a brick in my garage that has a dark patch on it, it has been this way for several months, since I noticed perhaps as much as 6-8 months. This brick is about 3 to 4 bricks...

Chimney + Dead bird = Flies

I suffered from this a few months ago, some poor bird mustve got trapped in my chimney and died or fell down there somehow, this ultimately resulted in 100's of flies all over the downstairs of my house..... pretty disgusting I have to say. I have no idea how rare this is but I want to...

    Outside stop tap

I had heard of that but I didn't know if it was a viable option, the plumber didn't suggest it last night so I guess he did have the right kit for it. Are there any problems in doing this to the main water pipe? Is this somthing a good plumber should be able to offer?

    Outside stop tap

    Outside stop tap

That begs the question why would my neighbour have 2?.... they both look about the same age so based on this it doesnt look like he's had one then installed another.

    Outside stop tap

Hi, I have a leak on the main stop tap in the house, so I called a plumber and he was unable to find the main stop tap outside my house. It would seem everyone has a grate for the water right outside their house except for mine. The only thing we did find was that my neighbour had 2 outside...

    flat roof advise please

its a difficult one to consider, I'm really looking for someone with practical experice who hasnt got anything to gain by commenting on EPDM, appreciate the comments though I think a pitched roof would be far too expensive, I simply dont think I can afford it

    flat roof advise please

I've just had a quote for a fibreglass roof from roofer and we spoke for a while about EPDM roofs and he was of the opinion that they were bad, infact he said he likes to steer clear of them. I think his main reasons were that they couldnt reflect the suns rays and were suseptable to damage...

Square window in a less than square hole!

I cant say i'm a DIY expert but what about using expanding foam filler then plaster and water proof over the top. Not only is it easy to use but it will expand to fill awkward gaps. I've used it before with success.

    flat roof advise please

Thanks for the advise, I'm thinking a new roof would be best (athough the most expensive). Your right about prospctive buyers, and of course they may not want the hastle of getting a new roof..... so I'd best do it. I've been doing some research into the types of roofing and the Synthetic...
