    innovation in electrics

because it seems domestic electricians appear to be in many cases to resist change! i love wago's industrial din rail terminals- i have fitted thousands in the last 10 or so years and have not had an issue with any, the newer top job terminals don't require the use of a tool to connect the cable...

    Access without tool

I've done this too on my own house - a slot cut down the wall with a grinder is very easy to fill- you can also hide the little wire down a edge of a door architrave etc

How rare is the TN-C Earthing system past the DNO property?

I wouldn't think so, TN-C-S isn't allowed at source for anything other than office buildings if I remember the regulations and ACOP correctly. When I was at college a lecturer said he had been involved with the install of TNC system in a block of flats while he was an apprentice..... Wired...

    LED Floodlights

I used to be impressed by those cheap 10,30 & 50w flood lights, the boys must have fitted a couple of hundred - but of the last 40 there's been in excess of a 50% failure rate.... Looking for a different brand not Chinese made brand, but still need to be sensibly priced and robust

    Contactor hold on contacts

People not being able to fix motor control panels has kept me busy for years! TBH none of it is rocket science you "just" need to sit there draw a diagram and work it out. Slate mounted open Contactors and face plate starters are the biggest PITA but they are getting rare.

    Detached Garage Supply

When we moved to our current house 3 years ago the garage supply was one of the many things on my list as it was 2.5mm t&e buried in the garden! I earth looped it and found I had a silly high earth resistance..... So best replace t&e with a proper cable, 4mm sounds ok at a guess, 10 or 16...
