i am fitting a ceiling light but the earth wire from the ceiling is too short to reach the connector, is it ok to connect this to a terminal block and then use some more earth wire to connect up to the lighht. Also with another light I have too many earth wires to connect to the block...

sorry my post was not clear the light has normal 3 wies it is the wires coming from the wall i am not clear on (extra grey one) it is a new bulid house so has never had light connected before

when i connect the wires up ignoring the grey wire, the light is on, but light switch does not work

I am trying to wire an external light it has brown and black wires and also uncovered wire ( i assume is earth) it also has extra grey wire whch i am not sure what should be done with it Thanks
