Had another builder round this evening to give me a quote, and he suggested to save money why not cut out 6 inches of plasterboard along edges of external walls, seal plasterboard and floor joint, apply adhesive then reskim all the walls. He said he could also do the joist ends plus cavity...

New build house with defective drylinig

They have advised me (said to wet plaster etc) but the problem is finding someone to carry out the works correctly. Im just curious to know if there is an alternative way of doing it and possibly cheaper as the damages wont cover the full cost.

Want to replace 12v halogen with 240v LED

Hi, I currently have about 25 dimmable 12v Halogen bulbs in the house, and Im getting fed up of having to constanstly change bulbs and burnt out transformers. How hard would it be for me to get rid of the transformers and wire in 240v led bulbs? I need to add that they need to be dimmable...

I had my whole central heating system refitted 7 years ago, and had a vaillant fitted with an ariston unvented cylinder. All of a sudden the shower went cold when set to max temperature and the only way to get it hot was too basically shut the cold supply to the bathroom (gate valve) only...

2nd Turbo has gone in 9 months

Hi, I purchased a 2007 2.5 CRDI XE sorrento in October 2011 from a used car dealer. Within 2 days I had reported 2 faults (one was resolved by having a fuel filter fitted) and the other was an ongoing problem (high pithced noises at certain revs). For months the car went back and forth...

British Gas and personal Gas safe registration

Id just like to add that not everyone gets sacked for having their own GSR. I know someone who was offered the chance to cancel his GSR and keep his job, and I also know of someone who wasnt offered that option and shown the door. They do take other things into consideration.
