I don't really understand your post.......I am planning on taking the socket off the wall and wiring the cable in to it directly.......is this what you are saying I shouldn't do?

Do you mean the back of the socket on the wall? ie. unscrew that and wire it in? Did wonder if I could do that.... Wouldn't be calling BT - no chance!! Couldn't an electrician do it if I still can't get it done or aren't they allowed to? Thanks in advance!
