    Bathroom shower panels

As for tiles vs panels it depends on the overall look you want. Our bathroom was mainly tiled so the panels added a nice contrast / feature. Had we gone tiles all round it would have looked a little too tile-ey…. if that’s such a word

    Bathroom shower panels

I used the chrome sealing strips on mine for the joint and ends - mine was just a corner L shape. Much much neater but depends on the look you want, not just finish but colour etc.

Changing external gulley to internal and adding toilet.

Thanks for the comments. If I can add a bit more background maybe that will explain some aspects but still keen to take on board everything. There originally was a chamber at the place you marked but it had to be shifted to the new chamber shown as the main extension will obscure the whole area...

Another DPM / DPC thread !

Not wanting to hijack the other thread but I have a similar question - doing a part integral garage conversion ie insulated stud wall 1.5m behind the garage door to leave a small working area. For the new habitable room on the inner side of the stud wall we want to use 220mm of PIR insulation...

Will this come off the wall easily?

Stuff it - just tried one of those 4 larger screws, its in there solid - gotta love slotted screws ! o_O It's all now going to stay where it is and the insulation board will be cut around it - build control are ok with that. Will all end up in a cupboard anyway. Thanks all for the help.

Will this come off the wall easily?

I feared that was the case. I'm elec saavy but not qualified etc and don't like the sound of removing that cover then - it's no so much if theres exposed stuff, more so the shifting around of something when its exposed. unless you think otherwise?

Will this come off the wall easily?

Cheers for the concern - as per this pic you'll see it's all fairly straightforward - that brown board is just 4 screws, the incoming cable is neatly laid out and just wrap clipped and goes out through the wall just above the top of the photo. The cabling off to the dist board from the iso...

Will this come off the wall easily?

Hi, Will the 2 visible screws allow this to come off the wall or are they just holding the cover on ? Going to put insulated plasterboard on that wall and the main meter next to it is on a screwed board which will easily allow me to slide the plasterboard under it - would be nice to do same...

The good old eaves height on a bungalow extension messing up Permitted dev. rights chestnut.

Thanks Jeds - and no worries the manner and intention of your reply is greatly acknowledged as just helpful advice from t'internet. As for the "It either is or isn't" within PD I am curious as to whether there actually is a middle route / grey area as in by adding sloping edges to a flat roof...

    Will this pass building control?

I have some insight in to these situations, you will likely find that Building Control will not want to say whether it is safe / up to standard or not. There are many codes / standards for brickwork etc and the burden of proof that the work is satisfactory is on you, not building control. You...

The good old eaves height on a bungalow extension messing up Permitted dev. rights chestnut.

Yes a 5.7m wide x 4 m deep porch might raise a few eyebrows - but the Mrs does have a lot of shoes ! We were toying with something like a section of sloping roof round the sides to bring the eves down - so it almost becomes a pitched roof with most of it lopped off horizontally ! Just seems...

    Extension built without approval

Don't beat yourself up too much - as for "we would never be able to sell it" well you bought it, and so might others in the future. You would be amazed at what potential buyers are willing to see through when they have their heart set on a place. From the way you have written the rest of your...

The good old eaves height on a bungalow extension messing up Permitted dev. rights chestnut.

You're absolutely right, but we do have an opportunity to crack straight on with the build though and as no one can barely see what we are doing then most would be none the wiser - but the moment a planning app goes up then they all come out the wood work. We do have a number of houses behind...

The good old eaves height on a bungalow extension messing up Permitted dev. rights chestnut.

Sorry, not quite with you - the only reason we see we can't proceed under PDR's with a preferred flat roof is the potential eaves height infringement, which is going to be around 380 mm over - which we are looking to find a way round with Pre-Planning advice.....which would be a planning issue...

The good old eaves height on a bungalow extension messing up Permitted dev. rights chestnut.

A Planning application should sail through, yes, but apart from saving a bit of cash on a planning application we are actually in a position to crack straight on with the build as my builder friend has a slot. We could just do that anyway and apply for PP as we go along as a subsequent...

    Garage conversion - planning permission

I've converted garages with no planning required as the work usually falls within Permitted Development Rights. The only things you need to check is if you are in an area of specific interest, listed etc and then finally if Permitted Development Rights have been removed for your house / area -...

The good old eaves height on a bungalow extension messing up Permitted dev. rights chestnut.

Hi, Have read a number of threads on here where a single story flat roof rear extension on a bungalow hits the issue where the upper face of the flat roof is classed as the new eaves height, therefore will normally be above the existing eaves height and therefore full planning is required, but...

Spur off a light Switch ???

Thanks all, Now that I have sat down and sketched the circuit all out I see the logic and where you guys are coming from (you may have guessed by now that this is not my day job!). Oh well - back to the drawing board....but thanks again.

Spur off a light Switch ???

i have a single 2 way light switch (wired up to another 2 way switch to control a particular light elsewhere). I would like to add a new separately switched light very close (within 2 feet) to the 2 way light switch (I just need more light in that area which is a little cubby hole under the...
