    sorry its hard understanding when you cant see whats being explained.... do you mean ....underlayment, then battens (supported where necessary with wedges) and an extra layer of underlayment in between battens..........or do you mean to completely fill the void??

    instead of wedges ? just to recap in new cellar....underlayment then t+g glued in existing cellar.... DPM, underlayment, CLS (supported by more underlayment where not touching floor) then t+g ????? cheers Gazza!!!

    sorry, laying the CLS loose...then where it fails to touch the floor i will fill the gaps with wedges...then place the t+g floorboards on top (nailed) Gazza!!!

    in the new cellar the concrete floor has DPM and is level in the existing cellar there is no DPM and is even (smooth) but not level...it appears to dip in the middle of the room by between 5 and 10mm and seems that they have laid a bit here and then a bit there!!!!

    hi,thanx for both replys...... were trying to avoid using laminate as we love real wood.... in the new cellar the concrete floor has a DPM under 4" of concrete...can i screw floorboards straight into the concrete? in the existing cellar the concrete floor has no DPM under it.....so im gonna...

    hi jerrym, it said on the packaging that the visqueen is a DPM 300 microns thick. im sure this is used when concreting floors. do you think it will solve the problem if i turn the visqueen around?? or should i try another method...with the products i have....cant really afford anything else...

    hi, im in trouble again!!! converting my cellar and decided to use insulation.... i live in an inner terraced house.... the external wall in the cellar is damp...the floor is concrete and completely dry..... SO.... i have used visqueen directly onto the damp wall placing double 25mm...

    hi once again... can you not get the rockwool (mineral wool) in rolls?? when you say leave a 2" gap above the downlighter, does that mean the full length of the joist or just above the downlighter....sorry to be a pain, but ive only got one chance in getting everything right!!! cheers Gazza!!!
