    Smart meters have never connected

Close but none of the smart meters (Smets2) connect directly back to the energy company, they connect to the “communications hub” over ZigBee and it is the hub that connects over the WAN. The energy companies can use the same meters in the North, Midlands or South. The real issue is that the...

    Bosch Oven - Replacement Bulb.

I have the same problem, the cover moves about 10-15 degrees but with the silver socket moving as well. Don’t want to damage the oven casing by applying too much force. It isn’t very dirty but presumably dirty enough. can I force it or will it damage the oven or should I remove the cover in...

Fuse energy saying they cant fit a smart meter

If it is the HAN that causes the issue then it is 2.4GHz and very widely used. If it is the frequency the CH talks to the comes provider on the it depends on where you are, central and south are mobile tech, north is generally 420 GHz unless you are in the Fylingdales area.

multi DC out put 12V in transformer wanted

What would concern me is what the supply from some of these devices would do to the laptop, aiui it is the charger that provides smoothing and surge suppression. How much power would you actually save? A percentage of the laptop input which will be small numbers of watts, in a car/van you...

Today we had a generator instead of the grid serving us

My approach is similar, we have a small UPS that supports the systems the other half would hate losing - the internet - for a few hours, we have battery lamps and, because I don‘t expect long power cuts, we just wouldn’t open the freezer. The fridge will stay cold for a few hours, if longer the...

Hot tub tripping, but also working… crossed Neutral?

Have I missed something or is the OP routing the return (blue) cable through the local RCD as well? Not an electrician but surely it won't function as an RCD without this being done.

Is there any rules or laws to say there must be electric in an abode?

Railways are dangerous places, the operator (whether Network Rail or a preserved railway) will likely have a veiw.

    Adjusting up costs French doors

Worked it out, it was catching at the bottom. There is an Allen screw at the bottom of each hinge to adjust height, the photo shows the top of the hinge. moving the top of the door towards the hinge has fixed it.

    life eh!

Having been brought up a Christian and being trained as an engineer I struggle with the idea of a god who exists but the allows several religions to exist (the Abrahamic religions) which all pretend to worship him (sorry my upbringing tells me it is a “he”). He also allows factions within those...

    Another EV query.

If it didn’t have a hole for the earth pin you couldn’t use a 13A plug. Probably nothing connected to it. Wife’s last Mokka had a built in invertor and 13A socket, forget what the current limit was in the book. it was never used.

Replace Balustrade on 1950's Plasterboarded Stairs

What is supporting the end of the stringer? Suggest you strip out everything underneath the stairs bar the stairs themselves so you can see what you have, the stringers are the load bearing structure so should really be sat on the floor. When you can see how the stairs themselves are...

Surprised no one has asked - how are those of shorter stature supposed to adjust the shower temperature? Or are Wickes providing a waterproof stool for the bath.
