    Replacing Gardtec 600 Keypad

Brilliant - thanks very much. Was certainly never going to work that out on my own!

    Replacing Gardtec 600 Keypad

Thanks. They're 4 wire pads - I made sure I got matching, and the pad seemed to work, apart from the conflict with the others. My guess is the controller thinks this one is keypad 2, but it was configured as keypad 1, but that's just a guess based on the fact that the fault pad was one of the...

    Replacing Gardtec 600 Keypad

I have a Gardtec 600 panel with 3 keypads. Two of the keypads are green lcds, and one is slightly newer and blue. One of the green lcd has been showing gradually more garbled text, and has now stopped showing anything (although still glows), and the other has started to go the same way. They...

Switching old Gardtec 600 to 3G/4G

I've got an Gardtec 600 panel, which controls a fairly large home alarm setup (lots of wired PIRs, door sensors, smoke detectors, heat sensors etc.). It all works fine and is monitored, but that uses a landline phoneline. At some point soon, that'll become a VOIP line, which of course isn't...

Water flowing up into Central Heating header tank (!)

OK, so this isn't looking great, but not 100% conclusive. Firstly, attached are some picture (sorry for the quality - not the easiest things to take pictures of). You see the slude and the outlet, and the final one tries to show the stuff surrounding the outlet, which visibly "blows" inwards...

Water flowing up into Central Heating header tank (!)

Inhibitor was last added about a year ago - we changed some radiators and so the system was drained right down for that.

Water flowing up into Central Heating header tank (!)

Sorry - an sorry attempt at humour. I mean the feed in the bottom of the tank. My meaning was that it should be in the outlet, but it's currently the inlet instead (since that's where it's filling from ) I'll give the various advice a try and report back. Many thanks.

Water flowing up into Central Heating header tank (!)

Hmm - a bit of sludge, but not loads. There's also some "slime" attached to the outlet (or in this case inlet). That's how I can tell water's coming into the tank from their - I can see the slime moving with the flow. If it is sludge, how severe does it need to be to cause the problem and...

Water flowing up into Central Heating header tank (!)

I wonder if anyone has any advice on this.... We have an (old) central heating system (heating pumped, hot water gravity) which we're going to replace later in the year when we re-do the kitchen. However, it's recently developed a problem. It's not a sealed system, and we see to have water...

Easy way to stop hot water circulation in gravity system?

Yep - I was thinking about putting the valve on the return - that seems to make sense.....

Easy way to stop hot water circulation in gravity system?

Thanks for the feedback guys. doitall - how do I know if the boiler is setup as you say - is there something indicative of this? I'm guessing this was my concern - if I stop the gravity circulation, what's the boiler going to boil.....

Easy way to stop hot water circulation in gravity system?

Is there an "easy" (aka cheap) way of stopping the constant hot water circulation in a semi-gravity system. We'll be moving and replacing our boiler in a couple of years time when we do some building work, so i want to avoid splending more than necessary - i.e. converting to a fully pumped...

Any specific regs about gas fire in a bedroom?

We're planning to open up a fireplace in a bedroom and have a DFE gas fire fitted - low power (4.5kw) as it's just for effect rather than much heat. I know because it's < 7, it normally wouldn't need an air brick, but are there any special rules about vents because it's a bedroom - a builder I...
