    Yes, I cut a hole in insulation so that the sensor is touching copper, but water still way too hot. How would you fit a sensor band to an insulated cylinder anyway, do you have to strip off the insulation right round the tank?

    Thanks for your help, How do you get rid of sludge from a microbore system where the manifolds are upstairs and the pipes drop down to each radiator. Do I have to empty each downstairs radiator individually? Dave
