Ok Thanks. Is it feasible to run pipe externally? as in would there be too much heat loss?

    How to extend underfloor heating.

I am looking into adding a 12ft x 12 ft extension to a kitchen, the house which is 5 years old, has an air source heat pump . with all the rooms having a separate loop in the floor I assume, as each room has it's own thermostat. The heat pump is in the opposite side of the house and I can't...

Any advice on where is the best place to sell some of my workshop tools?

Thanks for all your replies. I have plenty of choices now! I didn't know most of them. I didn't think I could advertise on this site? The tools I am getting rid of at the moment are a "WoodCut" bench mortiser and a "clearvue" cyclone dust extraction unit so not handtools. I will be thinking of...

OK Thanks ! I always thought that leaving the back unpainted left the wood able to dry out But I'm obviously wrong about that ! as its just the bottom edge maybe I can paint the first couple of inches at the back? thanks again

Repairing damaged paint to a shiplap outbuilding

Hi I built a workshop 15 years ago and painted it with Sadolin Superdec. I have painted 1 side of it every year (it's a big shed) in rotation. and I have been pleased that most of the paint is nice and firm with no problems. But.. on the front and one side where it's much more exposed to driving...

Painted Shiplap rotting at the bottom edge (1)

There is a field behind to the North side. and a hedge protects most of it but there is a 10 foot section that is exposed to the wind and rain. that is where I get the problem. I think the rain must be getting forced up under the boards. I can't see how they would rot otherwise. The gutter...

Painted Shiplap rotting at the bottom edge (1)

Thanks but strangely enough it's not just the bottom ones that are affected. in fact they are mostly ok. I don't really understand why most are OK just thing it must be that some of them are warped and have created a gap that water gets into.

How do I test if my house wiring is earthed properly

I was working under my kitchen sink this morning where my earth bonding to my incoming water main is and I noticed that when the mains water pipe goes through the bottom of the cabinet it chances from iron to MDPE pipe. That can't be right can it? I have a multimeter, can I use that to find...

    Tank thermostat very inaccurate

Thanks for replies. It is for a solar heated tank that can go up to 90c the stat is at the bottom 3rd of tank and according to my readings the stat should turn off at about 60c to give 80c at the top roughly. but its turning off at about 40-45c so a lot of free energy is being wasted. So the...

    Tank thermostat very inaccurate

I have been buying cheapish Hot water cylinder thermostats in the past but have had to change a couple recently as they just packed up! So I bought a Honeywell stat but that was so inaccurate I sent it back. Bought another one and it's the same. I have probes that i have calibrated with freezing...
