    Vinyl tilie floor preparation

Definitely fill the gaps with some feather edge or you will have the tiles splitting on all the board joints. You'll need to find a local flooring distributors for the feather edge as it's not the kind of thing a diy store will carry.

    vinyl tile shrinkage

You will tend to find this more if the tiles are fitted in the summer or have been acclimatized in a warm room. There is no way to completely prevent it as they will expand and contract according to the ambient temperature of the room they are in. Ideally they should be fitted at around 18-20 c.

The feed tank is higher and has plenty of water in it.

    1 radiator not working

    It's a conventional system.

    1 radiator not working

Tried that and it just blew the match out. I don't suspect it is corrosion related, but cannot seem to find any reason for it draining so quickly. As previously stated it bleeds fine but is empty again within 12 hours.

    1 radiator not working

Just lately I've got 1 radiator (upstairs) that no matter how many times I bleed it drops al the water after less than 24 hrs. It has not been touched in any way since we last had the heating system on. All the other rads are fine, it's not leaking from anywhere and is fine once bled but just...

    Studioflor.

you will need to screed with a latex smoothing compound (not a crappy self leveller from B&Q) then stick the tiles down with a pressure sensitive adhesive. All of these including the tiles will be available from any flooring wholesalers, just check in yellow pages under flooring supplies.

    Sheet Vinyl Floor

You will have to be precise with your template. If you choose to go this route and do it on a sheet of something then you will have find some way to fix the template to the cushion floor. If your template is good then it may be worthwhile sticking it to the reverse of the cushion floor with...

    Sheet Vinyl Floor

You would only get a tiny amount of lateral movement, but the problem you'd have is that cushion floor is not very structurally strong so if it is laid onto a soft base it will puncture quite easily.

Relcaimed flooring, good idea ? .....

I personally would never lay a reclaimed wooden floor floating as there are too many unknowns as to the conditioning of the wood. You could lay it, have it looking fine and then with a change of season and moisture content find it moves all over the place. I would always either stick it down...

    Sheet Vinyl Floor

You can't really put anything under cushion flooring that is in anyway like an underlay, however if it's purely for the purpose of reducing heat loss I would suggest using either hardboard or plywood as a base to fit it on top of. This would greatly reduce the amount of heat conducted away from...

Should I be paying this much for Laminate or is it labour?

Pergo is normally more expensive to buy than Quickstep. Cant the guy who quoted top fit that quote to fit the Quickstep. From what you're saying this is a 1 man 1 day job so even at £300 that sems a little steep. Is there any prep work involved or is it just a straight fit albeit with some...

    concrete stairs

Could try coir, jute or seagrass instead of carpet.

    Sheet Vinyl Floor

If it's a decent cushion floor then it should be thick enough not to need anything under it.

Should I be paying this much for Laminate or is it labour?

I'd certainly put one guy in there, but not for less than £175. Be cheaper for me to send him home for the day.

    Damp concrete floor

Trust me I've done a few of these you will regret taking the cheaper route in the long run. Can you accommdate the required airbricks if you go the hangers and joists route. Think long term, it's you who has to live with the floor afterwards.
