Damp coming up through concrete floor

If you're an underfloor heating installer, you should know better really about the possibility of DPMs in the floor.

What sort of damp is this?

Yes, I understand that condensation is involved, but what I am saying is the wall is getting too wet and/or cold which then makes the condensation happen. It is a combination of wet and/or cold wall, plus too much water vapour being generated inside. Yes, insulating the walls would work, but...

What sort of damp is this?

As they appear to be concrete walls, then I guess it could just be cold transmitted from the ground, which would explain why the mould is only low down. Are you heating the room?

What sort of damp is this?

OK but I would still think water is getting into the wall somehow. Without us knowing exactly the layout of the house or the surrounding ground/drainage, it's hard for us to say what it could be, but I do still think it is likely to be a rising damp issue rather than a condensation issue.

What sort of damp is this?

Pretty sure the wall will be getting wet from a water source, so you should try and identify that. What happened to the internal tap that was leaking? Have you tried switching off all the taps in the house and then checking whether your water meter dial is still turning? That will show if...

    Problem fitting a handrail

My amateur view - You do not want to be cutting the handrail. You need to find a way to get the screw in, e.g. can you cover a large screwdriver in cloth, and then use that to lever open a gap between handrail and post so you can slide it in. (Not saying this is a good idea, but it's an idea).

What sort of damp is this?

No, the rising damp would be uniform across the wall. However, where the wall is clear, the water can evaporate out of the wall, where you've covered it, it can't, so that's where you get the mould.

Damp coming up through concrete floor

My view - there are only two sources of water, either it's the underfloor heating leaking, or it's ground water coming up (if your floor sits on the ground and is not suspended). The likely answer is that any DPC in the floor was breached, so what was waterproof isn't now.

Good work. I would advise amending your quote to remove the link to the gambling site.

logical step for Labour is to reverse Brexit

A minimum wage is an artificial device. All the people working minimum wage are doing things that society requires. It's not that they could not earn enough in a fair economy, it's that the cost of living has been made too high, and this is from unchecked money printing by the financial class...

How to Clean Up This Pine

Cillit Bang mould remover is good. If that doesn't work, then sand it down, and then either varnish it or paint it.

What sort of damp is this?

Yes, from the level of mould you have, I would say something is causing your wall to get wet, either rising damp or a pipe leak. It is not being caused purely by condensation, the wall has to be getting wet and cold first I think.

What sort of damp is this?

Unfortunately, more likely to be rising damp in my opinion, which is harder to fix. Where it's down near floor level, where this is, it's likely that water is coming up through the concrete walls, making them cold, and that is accelerating condensation on them. The surface of concrete is...

logical step for Labour is to reverse Brexit

What I don't like about it is that it's people outside the country telling people inside the country what to do. That's it. It's an example of what happens. You do seem to care a lot about politics, which is not a bad thing, but I hope it's not just discussing it with people on forums...

    Thoughts/advice about welding

Might be a bit far for you, but if you want to learn welding there's: https://the-machine-shop.co.uk/ Which is in Hinckley. The guy that runs it, Bob, features in Mat Armstrong car repair videos on YouTube, and seems a nice bloke and excellent welder.

logical step for Labour is to reverse Brexit

The tangible benefit is less government, government by our own people, and if we as British citizens don't like something about the government, we can campaign to change it, without having an additional layer of EU bureaucrats to go through before anything gets done. I really would suggest you...

Was it? I don't think it's any business of the government how many hours someone works a week, it's up to them.

logical step for Labour is to reverse Brexit

Anyway, to all the Remainers, it would be a good idea to stop whining about rejoining the EU, because that decision has been taken, and you're just wasting your energy. It would be better to think about what you can do to improve this country.

logical step for Labour is to reverse Brexit

I don't need someone in Brussels telling me how many hours a week I can work. British government can decide that.
