    Gas leaking up into flue

I rang him when we were told by the national energy supplier's subcontracted engineer who capped supply. He was busy hence why I called out an emergency gas guy which was a very high price per hour. He couldnt find anything obvious. I called a leak detection specialist for gas whose fees were...

    Gas leaking up into flue

Its fixed. The guy who installed the new pipes found a failed fibre washer in one of the gas connections in boiler which might have been disturbed when they were routing new supply to boiler and connecting the new pipe work up.

    Gas leaking up into flue

Hi, we had our gas meter changed over a week ago and before commencing the engineer did a drop test which showed 10 bar drop so he called his gaffer who said it was ok to install the meter but to cap it. There are only two items using gas in the house the boiler and hob which are both in the...

Post summer first time use of CH and problem

Right I took the cover off the pump to isolate the live and could smell like some electronics had been cooking. There is a capacitor just under the cover which appears to have baked and leaked a little. I isolated the pump's live and turned the 3a power supply back on and both the CH and HW...

Post summer first time use of CH and problem

We have had our CH off for the summer and finally came to use it last night due to the colder temperatures. The boiler fired up and the pump went on no problem but the radiators didn't heat up too much. So after a couple of hours I went to check the pump and the danfoss electronic 3 way valve...

    Hotpoint UT47X Fan Oven overheating/overcooking

Apologies for dragging this old thread up but in the interests of web rankings I found this thread ranked very high for the same problem I had with my hotpoint oven recently which I managed to fix myself. The problem with my oven was that the thermostat had become caked with fat and was no...

Problem with kitchen floor help needed

Thanks for the reply. Here is an idea of what I have... The small green area is cemented which runs onto wood (under cabinets). The red area is the bichumin area which is 6mm higher. Don't know why but someone in the past has levelled this off on a slope. I was going to put marine...

Problem with kitchen floor help needed

Thanks for quick reply. I can only really raise the 1 third to just under the new kitchen cabinets where I can fit the plinth. Beyond this there is wood which gives access to under flooring plumbling as well as the gas hob outlet and I don't want to raise this area as all of these are on...

Problem with kitchen floor help needed

My downstairs back consists of a kitchen, small passageway and a bathroom. When I moved in I replaced the bathroom floor and the passageway with tiled laminate. I left the lino down in the kitchen that was in. I am in the process of refitting my kitchen and came across a strange issue. The...

U Shaped Kitchen Worktop Joining Advice

Hi I am looking for a little advice on my worktops as I am about to begin installing a new (small) "U" shaped kitchen. The plan is to install all of the units and as I do not have a router get a joiner in to fit and join the worktops. My question is more to do with the best looking way to...

Vokera Excell SP 80 combi problem

The loop has been replaced in the last few years so that is no longer a problem. I will make sure she gets the T&C's - I have just browsed their website and they say they cover the boiler no matter what the age.

Vokera Excell SP 80 combi problem

She has done - every year when they come out and do her annual service they do the service then say because of the age of the boiler it isn't covered by their replacement warranty but they do nothing to fix the faulty gauge and instead just tell her everything is fine even though the boiler...

Vokera Excell SP 80 combi problem

Hi my girlfriends flat has the above boiler heating her home. She recently mentioned to me that her kitchen radiator was a lot colder than the others so as I know a little about heating I bleed the radiators. A lot of air came out of the radiators (not just the kitchen one) so as its a...

CH advice needed lots of possible solutions...

Ok tonight I finished work early so thought what the heck I will try and sort the bedroom rad. Drained a bit of water out of system and turned off the stopcock to the expansion tank. I then turned off the valves to the rad before loosening the nut on the tail to the offending valve. After...

CH advice needed lots of possible solutions...

Hi JohnD I had already tried the x400 and even x800 route before I backflushed which got out a lot of crud anyway (and the backflush got rid of a lot of crud when the water flowed back out). I am not sure if another dose is needed?

CH advice needed lots of possible solutions...

Thanks Mogget I got some bits from Screwfix last night and rigged it up like you said. I drained a few bowl fulls of water to avoid any overflow and took the bathroom radiator off and connected up to the blocked/restricted pipe. After a good few back flushes (pumping the water back up the...

CH advice needed lots of possible solutions...

Ok thanks for the help guys. The manifolds are likely to be under floorboards and I have laminate flooring down throughout so cutting them out is going to be a massive job. I might try and connect mains directly on to the rads. Does anyone know what is the easiest and best way to connect...

CH advice needed lots of possible solutions...

Just to update the thread over Xmas I flushed the system a few times to no avail. I still have two radiators which aren’t warming up, the bathroom one and the bedroom one. I drained the bedroom one by isolating the valves and taking one end off. It has a trv valve and I checked this and it’s...

CH advice needed lots of possible solutions...

Right I turned off the stopcock which supplies water to the header tank in the loft. I then drained the system and then turned each radiator off and turned the stopcock back on. I then went through the house turning each radiator on for a few minutes and then off before moving on to the next...
