Non standard gutter angles for bay roof

Hi Guys I'm looking for some advice on how best to add guttering to my bay window. I've put up with it just dripping on to my window sills and then onto the concrete below for years, but a combination of heavy rain, me working under it and a concern of wet walls, has made me rethink. I was...

Bathroom light questions before getting a qualified person in

Hi Guys I'm about to get a quote or two for some replacement light for my bathroom, but I like to have enough knowledge to ask the trades guy the right questions etc. Current situation In the bathroom there are 3x60W halogen recessed lights using a transformer, with input 240 via the...

Bathroom lights, slow to turn on

Hi Guys I've search around a bit, but I can't seem to find the answer to my questions. I have 3no recessed lights in the bathroom, which I believe are halogen, powered by a transformer to 12V directly from the lighting circuit. The problem occurs when the lights have recently been on...

Mid position valve British Gas BGMVSP-23

Finally and you have been a great help. Is this the right actuator to replace the blue British Gas BGMVSP-23? http://www.heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk/acl-drayton-invensys-ma1-actuator-p-112.html I was going to snip off the existing cable and join in suitable rated junction box. Can...

Mid position valve British Gas BGMVSP-23

Thanks. So by isolating the power to the boiler/heating system, I should be okay. Pulling this switch moves the lever, suggesting that power is cut, right?

Mid position valve British Gas BGMVSP-23

I was thinking of buying the whole unit from say Screwfix and then just replacing the head in the first instance. Do you think that is a good start?

Mid position valve British Gas BGMVSP-23

I'm pretty sure it's either the motor or the micro switch or both. My real question is whether to just get another actuator (like the one in the link) or have the whole thing changed. Did it burn out because the valve had siezed? Or natural life-span. Everything works on the heating and...

Mid position valve British Gas BGMVSP-23

Tony I really appreciate your reply. I can move the spindle, but not more than say 1/8 turn. Didn't want to get the grips on it. When you say expensive, where can I find a cheaper alternative.

Mid position valve British Gas BGMVSP-23

Hi Guys I have tried to search for my answer, having read a few similar threads, I just need a little but more advice. Last year the actuator failed and I have been on the manual lever for heating since then. The lever takes a bit of pressure to pull it across and makes that forcing a...

Loud regular knocking noise from a Potterton Suprima 80

I think you might be right. Last night I slowed the circulation pump down to no.1 and the knocking noise became very faint and stopped a for a while. I haven't had time to bleed the pump yet, but I will today. The Fernox was replaced two winters ago, after using the cleaner overnight.

Loud regular knocking noise from a Potterton Suprima 80

Yes, there's a tank in the loft and the water level looks normal, more or less where's it's always been looking at the water stain. I will check the pump tonight. The main reason for the inital question was that I think the noise comes on a little while after the fan is running. Which led...

Loud regular knocking noise from a Potterton Suprima 80

No, it's not pressurised. I also changed the circulation pump a couple of years ago after a Fernox clean and protect session. I did wonder about an airlock.

Loud regular knocking noise from a Potterton Suprima 80

Hello Everyone I replaced the PCB about a year ago thanks to advice from this forum. The heating has been working perfectly ever since. Just recently the boiler has been making a very regular and loud knocking noise. It does this whether the water, water & heating or just heating is on. I...

Sounds easy. Almost tempted to do it myself. But I guess its got to be CORGI as the controls are a safety feature. Cheers and thanks for your help.

I read somewhere that you have to strip connectors and open factory sealed plugs? Does that sound right? I just don't want to call in the favour, only for him to come back again or the whole job becoming a pain the in whatsits.

Will my CORGI brother in law need any special tools? I'm assuming that it will be more than just plugging connectors in this time?
