Hi Guys

I'm about to get a quote or two for some replacement light for my bathroom, but I like to have enough knowledge to ask the trades guy the right questions etc.

Current situation

In the bathroom there are 3x60W halogen recessed lights using a transformer, with input 240 via the traditional pull cord switch. I suspect that these were changed without Part P notification, but I don't know for sure.

What I'd like

3xled 60W equivs, with fire hoods and Part P certified (if necessary).

Can these be wired directly from the 240 supply via a suitable junction box?
Is it best to wire these in series or parallel?
What should I ask the guy for to get the best and safest installation?

Sorry for this post, if it's really obvious, but I respect electricity!

Why do you need fire hoods, were you expecting a fire in your bathroom? Or is the bathroom ceiling a fire-rated barrier (I doubt it)
Your electrician can answer the other questions but in summary
1.Can these be wired directly from the 240 supply via a suitable junction box?
2. Is it best to wire these in series or parallel?
3. What should I ask the guy for to get the best and safest installation?

1. It depends on where the junction box will be located
2. Parallel, unless you can find 80volt drivers for the LED down lights
3. Get a qualified electrician. This work is not notifiable (a'la Part P) unless your ceiling is lower than 2.25metres
