There are no other symptoms apart from when I switch off the shower it sounds like a kettle boiling!! Is there a standard type of replacement for the heater can for most showers?

Thanks Sam Could it be that the element isn't working correctly and over-heating the water on the 2nd power setting then?

As I said before I'm only a novice when it comes to this and all I'm after is a bit of help & advice on whether or not the shower is broken.

I believe that I do but from what I read somewhere else I'm concerned that the filter has broken within the shower unit.
