    Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P

I ordered the DS-7608NI-I2/8P and it does have the H.265+. Very pleased with it so far. Just got to fit some Noctua fans in it tomorrow to make it nice and quiet. Thanks all for your help and advice.

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P

I downloaded the data sheet from the website I'm buying from and it backed up what the seller said that it doesn't support H.265+, but I've just received an email from Hikvision them selves with a data sheet attached that says it does. Can some anyone confirm if it does support H.265+ or not...

Hi, Anyone own one of these and does it 100% support H.265+ compression? The shop I'm buying from said it doesn't, but I'm sure I read some where that it does. Thanks

UTP vs FTP cable for POE IP cameras

The old analog cameras on the front of the house are up above a slight ledge so cables won't be seen when run around the house and there is one down the garden on the garage as well. So I will have to re-run that one on top the soil like last time.

UTP vs FTP cable for POE IP cameras

I'll go with the cheaper cat6 UTP in that case and save some money. I was looking at one called Kortex. Have you used this cable before and is it of good quality? If not could you recommend a decent brand that is for outdoor use. Thanks

UTP vs FTP cable for POE IP cameras

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2/8P connectivity question

Thanks for the link. If I have 7 wired and one wireless camera do I plug the wireless router into port 8 or into the lan network port so I can have the wireless camera connect and record to the NVR? Sorry about this I'm new to this type of cctv system. Thanks

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2/8P connectivity question

Do I have this correct? If I wired 6 cameras from ports 1-6 I could then plug a rooter into port 7 and then be able to run 2 wireless cameras from that to the NVR which takes it up to the 8 channels.

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2/8P connectivity question

Brilliant. Do you know if I could get away with connecting 2 x wireless cameras on port 8 and will this NVR support more than 8 ip addresses? Thanks

Zanussi Upright Freezer not frost free odd problem

I've got a Zanussi upright freezer not frost free . An engineer came out through the insurance and pulled the freezer out to get a serial number from the back with the freezer still running. He replaced the door seal later that week. I found out the next day that the red defrost warning light...

    Flashing band tape question

Years ago I used some flashing that was heated with a blowtorch to melt the tar onto the roof joint that was leaking. Is this still available, what is it called and where can I buy it?

How would I mount this wash basin to a wall

The basin was on display as a cloakroom basin with no pedestal so didn't think it need one. Now it's time to fit it there are only 2 holes to secure it to the wall. See pics. How do I fix it securely to the wall without a pedestal? Thanks

    Cable question, Vent-Axia extractor fan

I have some grey 1.5mm in the garage so I will use that and went out yesterday and bought some proper trunking to do the cable properly. I was trying to take the cheapest way out. I realise now that is not the best policy. Thanks all for your advice.

    Cable question, Vent-Axia extractor fan

After what you have said, I'm now going to spur off the socket into a fused 3A switch and then run a 1.5mm twin and earth from there to the fan. Is this acceptable?

    Cable question, Vent-Axia extractor fan

In the manual it says. The cross - sectional area of supply cord used should be ranged from 1 -1.5mm2. The extraction fan is suitable for connection to 220-240V 50Hz supply. My question is, I have some 2 x 0.75mm that is rated at 6 Amps. Would this be OK to use? I am plugging it into a socket...
