Oak Door And Frame Clean Up and Finish Advice

Hi Folks, I'm after some restore and finishing advice for an external oak door and frame please. Around 3 years I had a bespoke solid oak front door made and installed. The manufacturer recommended the Dulux naked wood system which I applied before the door was installed. At the same time I...

    Paint Removal From Plaster Moulding

Been a while but only just got around to trying a steamer. Bought an X5 mop thingy and tried the hand steamer part with the extender pipe. Gives a controlled directional blast of steam far better then wall paper stripper did.......and it worked a treat. Paint peels off and so much cleaner than...

    Paint Removal From Plaster Moulding

Thanks for that. Have used it before but for really thick gloss. Have done a small test on the non detailed part and it works. Going to take a long time to do. Any usage tips you've picked up please? Thanks

    Paint Removal From Plaster Moulding

Hi All, I have a house dating back to around 1840 and I'm having problems with a beautiful plaster moulding going all around the living room (room size 5m x 4m). It's a mix of curves with some leaf detail but nothing too intricate but there is some depth of around 5mm between some of the...

    Shower Drainage Problem

Folks, Many thanks for the replies but as I'm (unexpectedly) back in the butt end of Russia I've not been able to get on-line let alone try your suggestions. All pipework involved is 40mm. Most horizontal incline is around 5 feet long dropping around 5 inches before a 90 degree bend takes...

    Shower Drainage Problem

We had a "professional" bathroom company fit a new shower room which was finished in March this year. There were problems straight away with the shower tray taking over 5 mins to empty and you could only have a short shower. The shower trap was replaced and all was okay until the problem...

    Removing Sheen Emulsion

Thanks for the suggestions. Painting was done by the orginal builder when the house was built so you'd think they would know better! I've just tried some grafetti removal gel and managed to get rid of a lot of the blotches. Will try the alkali stuff and matt paint for the untouched walls...

    Removing Sheen Emulsion

Thanks for the reply. Wall underneath is plasterboard with some sort of thin white covering on it. House was built in 1995. I've already tried stripping it with scrapers but it causes a lot of damage. Steaming it with a wallpaper stripper gives mixed results and again causes problems with...

    Removing Sheen Emulsion

I've attempted to paint new matt emulsion over some sort of sheen/soft sheen emulsion and the old paint has come off the wall and wraps around the roller or brush leaving large blotches of bare plaster. Any ideas how I can remove the remainder? Sanding doesn't work. Thanks.
