    Weak roof

Yes the frontage has been updated. painted and new windows etc. From your pic your right, that roof has been there for a while. Must admitt didn't pay much attention to the roof when I viewed, but would imagine the vendor would have used it as a selling point if it had had a new roof fitted.

    Weak roof

Had a look on streetview and the roof shows up quite well if you zoom in. Don't know what to look for though. The address is 18 brooklands gardens, Jaywick, CO15 2JP if you wanna take a peek. Its the one with the horrible 6ft fence at the front

    Weak roof

It was for a home buyers report. This is the guys exact words. The main roof is covered with concrete tiles, which are too heavy for the design of the roof frame. Sagging in the covering outside indicates that the load is not adequately supported by the roof timbers, which were designed for a...

    Weak roof

Yeh I got an idea the guy is a muppett. He said exactly the same thing about a similar dwelling a few streets away. Likened the roof timbers to that you'd find on a shed. Surely a roofer would'nt go round putting up tiles if the timbers were not upto the job of supporting them. cant really get...

    Weak roof

The surveyor checking out a potential purchase for me claims that the roof timbers are not strong enough to take the clay tiles and that the original roof was probably felt. I informed the estate agent who tell me that they sent a roofer to check it out and that theres nothing wrong with it...

    Adding a joist

So I'll effectively have a 4 x 4 joist and fix the hook bolt up through the centre of one?

    Adding a joist

Hi, I need to hang a chandelier weighing approximately 45kg. The current light fitting is in between joist's so I will have to install a nogging between to joist's. I have been given some 4inch wide joist hangers and some 4 x 2 tanilised timber. My question is, which is the best way to...

    Halstead Ace boiler

My boiler recently started cycling on and off whilst drawing hot water. I followed the manufactures servicing guide and cleaned the burner, fan, probes ect. Before I put the sealed front on I tried the boiler and it worked fine. Once I screwed the sealed front on the burner started cycling on...

    New toilet

Thanks for your reply. I,ll have a look see if I can find the design plans on Marley you mentioned. Dont relish the idea of digging down to join the mains but looks like I might have to now that you point out the problem of pebbledashing downstairs. Fitting a stack to connect the downstairs loo...

    New toilet

Hi all, I,m in the process of fitting an upstairs toilet. My only concern is the waste. I have 2 options. one is to run a soil stack straight down to the mains sewage which obviously involves a lot of digging. Option 2 is join up to the downstairs loo. This connects to an iternal...
