    Wooden floor in a bathroom

I've just put in real wooden boards in a bathroom. Before i got a chance to seal them a radiator leaked and warped some of the boards. I'm now worried it could happen again unless they are sealed really well. I've sealed and waxed them but am now thinking it requires varnish to properly...

    Waterproofing outdoor steps

I have concrete steps leading up to the front door. The area below steps is in the basement and gets damp after it rains. Without resorting to roofing felt or other physical barrier what is the best thing to coat on it? Is it bitumen? Is there a non shiny coating I can apply? Thanks for...

    Waterproofing steps

I have some concrete steps leading up to my front door. When it rains it gets damp on the underside in the basement area which I want to tidy up and plaster over. - I won't last long though with the damp coming through. I don't see any major cracks. I assume it's all slightly porous and just...

    Slab depth

I'm laying down a plastic sheet for damp proofing in a basement then putting a concrete slab on top. What's the minimum thickness I need to give for the slab? (I want to conserve ceiling height.) 80mm Polyfoam insulation and 70mm screed will go on top so it's all going to add up.

Electric shock between electric shower hose and bath taps

I have an electric shower unit above a bath. While it is on, if I touch both the shower hose and the brass taps of the bath I get a shock. Also if the hose is in the water filling the bath (there is no boiler at the moment) you get I very mild shock from the water. Doesn't seem very safe...

    3/4" hose - connecting to 15mm or 22mm stopcock

I have replaced an old stopcock with a new one. I thought the hose coming in from the street was 22mm but it seems like it's 3/4" so it's too lose. Is there a reducer available to get it to fit into a 22mm stopcock or maybe something to take it down further to a 15mm stopcock? Please can...

4 way switching - what do I buy?

There is a landing light that I would to turn on from 4 different places. Do I buy 2 x 2 way and 2 x intermediate or is it something else? I have someone coming who knows how to wire but I'd like to get the switches now. Any help appreciated.
