What have you been doing today?

I ordered a cheese board for 1 (or 2) last night in Lille. It came with shed loads of Chèvre, Brie, Comté, Tomme de Savoie and, oddly, but very tastily, Shropshire Blue! There was also salad and cornichons, 6 slices of garlic bread, 6 bread rolls and butter. £13. We shared the board and a...

Build A NZ -UK Power Lead

I quite like them. Here's a newer socket, that has a circular plate nearly flush with the surround. You can't push it in unless you insert the plug.

This is a "I saw this and thought of you" moment, Mottie... We're in Lille and saw this place and I know you've been to the Stratford one... But the difference is, you pay to have a pee in this one. One euro! And there were no hand towels and the queue for the ladies was huge. I went and a...

What have you been doing today?

We're in Lille at the moment. Took the concrete tube under the sea. Here's the car taking a breather in Ypres. And sunset over the 13 Century Cloth Hall.

I've always had rescue animals, they've been brilliant. All very different creatures, but brilliant all the same.

Build A NZ -UK Power Lead

Just wanted to drag this out of retirement to belatedly thank people for their help with my extension leads. I made up two for NZ, a 4 way and a 6 way strip, both without surge but having a neon, an on/ off switch and a fuse holder. I did fit a 5A fuse to limit the current as all leads are...

    ****ty life

Kool If you have a local Citizens Advice and can get an appointment, it's well worth chatting to them about what benefits you may be entitled to. PIP is not means tested. You may also be eligible for ESA or other benefits being part time.

    ****ty life

Joking aside, I've probably said this before... I've not had an easy life, with multiple medical issues to deal with. But... I stop every now and again and tell myself there are people in the world far worse off than me and they find the spirit and resilience to carry on, so I should too. At...

Converting a double socket - do these parts exist?

Or you can do it with Euromodules. Screwfix do BG brand which I have installed in my bedroom for many years now and they have been reliable. But I use MK Euromodule faceplates. You can find these on eBay. You need a Euromodule single socket, a Euromodule DP switch and a Euromodule fuse...

Why do I get this when using filler?

Is it a huge area where you have this problem? I have had great success on surfaces like that with Toupret. It's really easy to sand, I used a small off-cut of 18mm ply, wrap a bit of fine sandpaper round it and in a jiffy, it's smoother than a baby's bum.

    Fluorescent Replacement

Well, I have just finished the job. I took out the old flu fittings and replaced them with the Knightsbridge 7W LED under cabinet fittings I mentioned. I also removed the shaver socket (which didn't have an isolating transformer and plugged the hole. It was really awkward to get to anyway...
