Zanussi fl 1085 Washing Machine: How to remove top?

I need to replace the controller knob on my zanussi fl 1085, but where I expected to find 2 phillips screws on either side the back, I found what look like 2 rivets holding the top in place. How do I get the top off to remove the front panel? Thanks

    Leaking Cast Iron Radiator Valve

Thanks. The shroud looks like it might be welded on. Is it safe to force it off?

    Leaking Cast Iron Radiator Valve

Thanks, but what kind of tool would I tighten it with? It only protrudes a mm or two below the plastic handle and feels circular.

    Leaking Cast Iron Radiator Valve

One of our cast iron radiators has a leak underneath where the handle goes into the valve. The handle turns loosely but the handles on the other radiators are stiff. Is there anything I can do myself to fix this? Or at least stop it from leaking over the bank holiday. Thanks. [/img]

    Wiring HF Flourescent Lights

Well. It wasn't a faulty unit. I replaced it with a new unit. It worked fine for the first couple of tries, then the same fault occurred: lamps cut out after 30-60 seconds. Wired up as described above, so I've no idea why. Any ideas?

    Wiring HF Flourescent Lights

The lights do not have a separate block for a loop, only one terminal. I had the the L, N, E for the power cable wired to the terminal block in the 1st light and the L, N, E of a cable leading to the 2nd light twisted together with the L, N, E wires leading out on the opposite side of the...

    Wiring HF Flourescent Lights

I am trying to wire a simple set up of two 6ft 70w high frequency twin tube fluorescent lights to be plugged in at a wall socket. These are the type with an electronic ballast/ no starter. I wired the mains cable to the terminal block of the 1st light and then a cable from the same terminal...

    Earthing Steel Dimmer Switches

We had an electrician install a few steel 2G Dimmer Switches. There was a fault with one so I opened it up to discover that the earth wire was not connected to the face plate/switch. I opened up the others and none of them had the earth connected. Is this dangerous? I have now earth wired...

The Impossible Leaking Tap: Replacement Valves?

I have leaking bath tap. It is a wall mounted style bath mixer. Being the modern tap I thought this would just be a case of replacing the ceramic disc, but no. A plumber says its the valves, but all the plumbers merchants do not stock these valves so the whole taps need replacing at a massive...

Thanks. The bottom illuminator with the radiator symbol does not seem to be illuminated, but the 2 above it are. The boiler is firing for heating even when the hot water tap is off.

    Ocean Alpha 240P

Our boiler stopped functioned properly after we had a towel heater moved. We cannot have just hot water and have the heating turned off. The heating seems to be on all of the time even in the hot water only setting. A plumber took one look at the boiler and seeing that the switch did not seem...
