    Light Fitting over Shower

Thanks for the responses - the NIC-EIC leaflet seems to spell it out. The height of Zone 1 is 2.1m to 2.3m (it's a stepped ceiling over the shower enclosure), with the current light fitting on the 2.1m bit. I guess the point of these regs. is to stop you spraying water in to the light...

    Light Fitting over Shower

I am currently renovating a bathroom and have installed a larger shower cubicle than was there before. The result is that one of the light fittings is now partially over the enclosure, which seems a bit dodgy. As far as I see it I have 3 options: 1. Downgrade the lighting to 12v - pain...

    Fittings on Thermostatic Mixer Valve

Thanks for the replies - I'll get down to the plumbers merchant Monday and see what they've got. As for the hole....hmmm, you are right - I think I could almost get through it myself. Quite a bit of 'making good' to do.....

    Fittings on Thermostatic Mixer Valve

I feel a bit thick having bought a very expensive valve..... I have a Hansgrohe ibox universal valve for my new shower. The inlet/outlet ports look like they can either be 22mm or 15mm fittings (there are reducing nuts supplied for the latter). In either case, there is an internal thread to...

    radiator removal

Use a 1 cent piece (if you've got any euros, or a ½p if you have any knocking about) and balance on top of the pin before putting the valve top back on, and setting it to zero/frost. This will ensure the valve really IS off - it works for me - just check you'll be able to get it out of the valve...

    Waterproof Wallboards in a Shower

Thanks very much. Had a read of the other post too - so the major thing to watch out for is that you do a decent job on the sealing? As with any shower I guess.... Also, how frequently should you re-seal showers/trays?

    Waterproof Wallboards in a Shower

Has anyone used waterproof wallboards in a shower cubicle as an alternative to tiling? There is a brand on the market called Mermaid which is 9mm ply covered with a plastic coating (in various designs). Apparently, you 'simply' slot the boards together, fix and seal. No need for messy /...

    Adding sockets to a ring

It is the former and we have just had our carpets done, so I would not be too popular if I pulled them up right now....

    Kickback in CH System

Last year, we had a new Potterton Suprima fitted, and the system converted from gravity to pressurised. Since then we have had problems with a loud bang/kickback in either the flow or return whenever the room thermostat switched off (boiler shut down). The person who fitted suggested opening...

    Adding sockets to a ring

Thanks for the reply. I can start drilling.... I read one of the other posts about JBs - I think the guy has the same issue that I will have in that the cables disappear in to the bowels of the house, and is invariably not long enough to reach the new socket, so you will need to make at least...

    Extending a ring circuit ?

What's the problem with using junction boxes? Is it unsafe, even if they are properly (or even over-) rated for the size of cicuit?

    Adding sockets to a ring

I need some additional sockets for my ever-growing home entertainment system. I reckon I need about 6-8 sockets in total. Instead of using trailing-leads from the existing double socket, is it OK to fit say 2 or 3 extra double wall sockets in to the ring at that point? I understand I do not want...
