    its impossible to give advice on whether the quote of 8k is good or otherwise as each job is very different and has its own pitfalls. as always get 3 quotes from rgi,s and compare.

    yes those will do it. the holesaw screws onto the arbor, and the arbor has locating pins which locks onto the holesaw.

    youre rgi should have made good around the flue before the flanges were fitted so to ensure poc cant get back into the room. mortar mix is ok.the flue should be angled falling slightly back towards the boiler to collect the condensation.

    your rgi should be able to take readings of working pressures at the meter and appliance to determine what he needs to do.

    try turning both valves off and drain the rad. remove the rad and then with a bucket under one of the valves see what flow you get from the valve. repeat with the other. also see what colour water you get from the valves/ rad.

    if you have a small tank in the loft tie up the ball valve to stop the exp tank filling. depends on what type of system you have!

    so you have a combi already? and it would be a "straight swap"? i asssume a condense pipe would have to be run to drain. again depends on your budget. people on here would suggest there favourites, Worcester 30 cdi, Vaillant, Ideal Logic 30 + are a few suggestions. as regards price every jobs...

    bit in the dark here, but lets rule out a leak, as youve not mentioned that she can here the ball valve in the loft running all the time, just the fact that the "hot" water is not hot. lets say its been changed to a fully pumped system in the last 10 years, and there is some control to the hot...

    can you remember what boiler she has? i.e back boiler, floor standing, wall hung has it been changed and the system upgraded recently? or is it the same boiler shes got since you were a lad! :lol:
