Hi, I've just bought a house and CH has been drained (one of the pipes was cut) by estate agents as house was empty for few months. When I turned mains water all radiators started to fill in.As my boiler has been unconnected by the previous owner I will need to replace it and pipes above him are leaking.I would like to have at least cold water available for renovation work, without CH refilled, until I have new gas supply sorted and new CH fitted. Is this at all possible and if so what do I need to do.I would need "for dummies" instruction:) Has anybody had similar issue? Many thanks for all advice :)

if you have a small tank in the loft tie up the ball valve to stop the exp tank filling. depends on what type of system you have!

Quite often you'll find a stop cock in the airing cupboard on pipework going upwards to the header tank which will turn off supply to the header tank morlomanc mentions.

Worth a look, saves a trip into the loft, but if not, do as the chap says.
