    Removing tile adhesive

Hi. I have put some quarry tiles down recently using grey tile adhesive/grout (the flexible stuff). Stupidly and try as I might in a few places I have got some traces of the adhesive- no more than smears really- that have dried onto the surface of a couple of the tiles. I don't want to get...

    Thermoplastic tiles and wood

Honestly they did. I haven't kept the mail- I got it a few weeks ago- but I only asked them the one specific question and got just the one answer. I don't know who it was that answered tho'. If I remove them am I going to rip up the concrete with it?

    Thermoplastic tiles and wood

I am going to glue down some solid wood strip flooring using Rewmar MS adhesive. My floor is concrete most of which is covered with 1970s black thermoplastic tiles. These are surprisingly level and well stuck down on top of a bituminous adhesive. I e-mailed Rewmar and they say that their...

    Gas pipe capping

Hi. Please note I am not going to do a DIY job of capping the pipe that used to go to a gas fire- I'll get a CORGI fitter to do that if needs be. However, the gas supply to an old (departed) gas fire comes through the usual chrome/shiny restrictor elbow which has been professionally capped...

Assuming I'd rather keep the wood downstairs, any suggestions? Is there any way of locating a good firm to do a screed?

Solid wood floor, concrete and tiles...

Actually some are quite long, but from what I'd read I thought the floating option wasn't really suitable for the type of wood, hence I'm left with lots of levelling or nailing onto ply. Here's a thought though- can one nail down directly onto wooden floorboards? If so I could use the wood...

Solid wood floor, concrete and tiles...

Thanks- sounds lie a good option. The wood is in strips of varying length and about 90mm wide, tongue and grooved all round. But- if I glue all of the tongue and groove will it handle the expansion and contraction? Secondly if glued straight down won't a modern adhesive like the Rewmar...

Solid wood floor, concrete and tiles...

Hi all. Sorry for this long post but I need to make a decision. My current project is to lay a solid wood (maple) floor. I have the wood but am now faced with a variety of options. This is the problem part of my floor: http://www.flickr.com/photos/13818533@N04/?saved=1 The concrete...

    Differing floor levels

I am planning to install a wooden floor over a concrete base- solid wood with some Rewmar adhesive. The concrete floor itself is level but the trouble is that because of an extension it is in two parts and about 1/4 of the room is about 5mm higher than the other. If I use a self levelling...
