    Riello burner not firing

It was definitely calling for heat. Motorized valves opened, CH pump was running. Same with HW, there’s no HW in the cylinder so turning on the HW opened the MV but the boiler didn’t fire. Turning the boiler and burner off and on again seems to fix it. There is no burner lockout light as far as...

    Riello burner not firing

I put the cover back on, turned power back on and now it’s fired up. Been running 15 mins so it’s hopeful.

    Riello burner not firing

Here’s a photo with the cover off. Other threads say try firing it up with the photocell removed, should I try that?

    Riello burner not firing

I have a warmflow oil boiler with Riello burner. It’s a regular setup with 2 tanks in loft. The CH was running last night when it stopped firing. The CH pump kept running but the Riello never fired up again. This morning, from cold, it still won’t fire up. Same issue with HW and CH. the...

    What is this valve?

I let him know about the airlock problem and absent NRV so he's going to work on that instead of the service.

    What is this valve?

I emailed the manufacturer before posting here and they got back to me: The valve pictured in your email below is a pressure safety valve which was offered by Pegler prior to 2010, before it was discontinued due to changes in legislation which required safety valves to discharge to a drain and...

    What is this valve?

Thanks all. I think it’s a red herring then. There is an air lock in the HW circuit and I think it’s near that valve but the valve is not related to the problem. I will drain and refill HW. The valve was 5 quarter turns open so I have left it at that.

    What is this valve?

This is the cylinder. The system has worked fine for years. The gravity HW has always been a bit slow, but not as bad as it currently is. The problem started after I removed an old radiator so it's highly likely there is air or sludge in the HW circuit. The boiler fires up but there is a big...

    What is this valve?

Its a regular boiler on an open vented system (2 tanks in loft). The CH has a pump but the HW is gravity only. The cylinder is in the room above. It doesn't make sense to have a pressure release valve on an open vented set up does it? Gravity systems need a non-return valve usually.

    What is this valve?

Anyone know what is valve is and what the nut is for? It says Pegler England on it. I have gravity HW and this valve is on the flow side just after the boiler. I guess it's a non-return valve? The HW is not working well and the temperature before the valve is currently 60C but after the valve...

    Birds in roof

The tiles won't sit flat because extra bits of batten have been nailed on top of the purlins. This may have been done to install the weird gutter made out of lead. I'll try removing them but it will require removing quite a few tiles and rain is due.

    Birds in roof

Yes, I have blocked up the roof hole and they have nested elsewhere. I live in the countryside so there's no need for them to nest inside asbestos roofs. Never seen a section of roof lift up like that. I'll try taking the tiles off and putting them back again to see if they settle correctly.

    Birds in roof

They are waking us up at 4am. If they didn't make such a racket we'd never have noticed them. There are plenty of other nesting spots around the house.

    Birds in roof

I have blue tits trying to make a nest in the roof. There is a massive gap which I have blocked up for now. The rows of nails looks suspicious. Normally there is one or two nails near the top of the slate whereas here it looks like someone has tried to close the gap by nailing the slates down...

    Driveway not draining

I was wrong about the driveway. The 'under drive' is solid concrete and has a decent slope away from the shed and towards the stream. Maybe its flowing to the left but the low wall on the left is stopping the drainage:

    Driveway not draining

My property runs next to a stream and all of the rain and surface water is meant to go into the stream. The gutters and down pipes lead to underground pipes that flow into the stream. In this photo the gravel driveway slopes right to left, towards the stream. The building is a concrete shed...

Pvc door hinges - will this one adjust left and right?

Old thread but glad it's here as I had the same problem. Adjusting the centre nut with a 9mm spanner moves the door left and right.

Plastic roof channels/valleys - condensation issue

Anything that increases the surface temperature should stop the condensation forming. You can get devices to measure surface temperature They are handy for this sort of thing and for flow/return temps on radiators.

    French Door Draught

I have a french door with a Yale Lockmaster lock. It isn't closing securely against the frame so is letting a draught in. It's the bottom roller cam that isn't holding the door against the frame. I tried adjusting the lower keep but it didn't help. Also adjusted the lower roller cam so that its...

Plastic roof channels/valleys - condensation issue

Since it's condensation rather than water ingress, can you insulate the underside of the valley or apply an anti-condensation paint?
