    door thresholds

I think WoodYouLike site sells them. I have a plan for the 11 thresholds I need to install after I complete my solid oak floor installation. I want oak thresholds that are 120mm wide and have been unable to find them. So I intend to buy a pack of oak flooring with 120mm x 800mm planks...

CHS pipework - to replace or not?

Rebuilt my house this year and intended to reuse the c/h pipes and rads. I believe they had been installed in 1977 (so 31 years old). The amount of black gunk in the pipes and rads was incredible. After a day trying to clean them, there was still tons left to damage the new boiler so I ended...

    AVG v Kapersky

Don't pay for these, you gain nothing. I always install the Free AVG antivirus and the free zonealarm firewall. As long as you set regular updates, they do a great job. I've set them up on 20+ PCs in the last 18 months and noone's had a problem. http://www.avg-download-free.net/...

Wireless Router Setup Without ADSL Line?

Shouldn't be any problem. I've often moved routers from one house to another to test if the line is working (ISPs never admit the problem's their fault). I swopped them over ten miles apart (so different exchanges) with no issues.

    CAT 5E & telephone help

Whether the phone cables go straight to the switchboard or to the patch depends on the local setup. I always took them all to a patch - more flexible, if anyone moved desk you could swop phone numbers at the patch without reprograming the switchboard. If there are cables from the switchboard...

    CAT 5E & telephone help

We used to use the same cable with no probs at all. At the patch panel we routed the phone ones to the switchboard and the PC ones to the hubs/routers. If they're using the same sockets, then they may be IP phones anyway which are cabled exactly the same way as PCs.

How much do copper pipes expand (lengthways)

About to start installing pipework from radiators to proposed new boiler location. My house is a strange shape and the flow/return pipes will each be 16m in a straght line. It has occured to me that once the heatings on, these could expand and pull on the pipes that feed off to the...

How do I fit my new fibreglass bath?

I also have a bath to fit, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. Having similar concerns to yours, I was thinking about filling under the bath with that terrible spray foam stuff to add a bit of suppport. Does anyone know if this would work.

Identifying marley tile and roof pitch issue

Mis-communication. I'm sure the current tiles are not low pitch ones - I think that's why the waters getting in - trying to name the tiles so I can confirm what pitch they are suitable for. Tried taking picture earlier but the combination of a cloudy wet day and old dirty grey tiles doesn't...

Identifying marley tile and roof pitch issue

Hi guys, I've removed the ceiling on a single storey extension and found the plasterboard damp, crumbly and covered with mould on the top (roof void) surface. Now that the roofs exposed, I can see the felt has a number of holes and when there is strong wind and sustained rain, water drips...

Boilers in airing cupboards catching fire?

Alarm sensor cable + cat5 cable through joist in same hole?

I've cabled two factories with cat5. Despite everyone worrying, the only time I've had cat5 affected by other cable was when some muppet ran the refrigeration power supply down the cable runs that I'd put in. 120A a couple of mm away screwed it big time, but I've never seem many problems with...
