Help connecting 40mm anti-syphon p trap to 40mm sink waste?

Cheers Rob - although I'm a bit baffled now as it has 'magically' fixed itself today and there's no more gurgle* I'm wondering if running the DW and WM at the same time has restored the normal balance of air in the pipes or something, but I really have no idea. Still - if it ever re-occurs...

Help connecting 40mm anti-syphon p trap to 40mm sink waste?

I've had confirmation that the left top part is removable and would therefore fit onto my existing double appliance adapter, so it's now on order and I'll give it a try and report back. Thanks for your helpful responses so far.

Help connecting 40mm anti-syphon p trap to 40mm sink waste?

I made the assumption that the top part on the left could be removed to enable the lower part to fit to my existing 'top part'. The gurgling is in the u-bend and is an issue with water draining from the sink more than with the DW and WM running. The hoses are already arranged up high, but...

Help connecting 40mm anti-syphon p trap to 40mm sink waste?

Thanks - well all problems only started when a blockage caused the WM and DW to back up to the sink. A plumber has since unblocked the drain but the DW was still backing up. Further works to attempt to resolve this has not resolved it, and has also added a prolonged gurgling noise after the sink...

Help connecting 40mm anti-syphon p trap to 40mm sink waste?

Hi Rob - pics below. The issue is that the old one is wider at the top end so it slots up onto the existing pipe, but the new one only butts up against it because it's the same size.

Help connecting 40mm anti-syphon p trap to 40mm sink waste?

I've just got a 40mm anti syphon p trap to replace a normal sink u-bend (to fix gurgling sink issues). The upright part that should connect to the sink waste is 40mm, but as the sink waste is also 40mm there's no way for them to slot together. At the other end, the p trap is large enough to...

Has my loft insulation been laid correctly?

Yes ladylola that was one of my concerns. The boards are squashing the first layer of insulation a bit. I'll query with the builder tomorrow and see if he knows this.

Has my loft insulation been laid correctly?

Great - thanks both. I just needed the reassurance. Looks like lazy work to me (based on other issues with quality of work) but if it's not a problem I'm not going to make it one. Thanks :-)

Has my loft insulation been laid correctly?

Yes - the boards were just laying unfixed on top of the joists to provide crawl boards for my husband / the builders to get up there and move around. The one's I've spotted are around the door hatch and I could see this insulation sandwich with a board filling which makes no sense to me either...

Has my loft insulation been laid correctly?

Can anyone tell me if my builders' approach to laying loft insulation is a problem or should I let it go? My husband laid 200mm of glass mineral wool before the builder raised the joists to then lay a further 200mm in between and then lay boards on top to provide loft storage. The problem, I...

Fitting bamboo floor in bathroom - under/around shower??

Thanks all - have agreed with plumber that the shower tray will be fitted first and floor fitter will have to cut to fit round it. He must have to cut round obstacles all the time - can't always take things out and then re-install them over the floor! Thanks

Fitting bamboo floor in bathroom - under/around shower??

The plumber was talking about having to go through the downstairs ceiling to connect it anyway, as it's a low tray. His main concern was about any movement in the floor upsetting the tray and causing leaks I understand.

Fitting bamboo floor in bathroom - under/around shower??

It's flush with the floor - no legs.

Fitting bamboo floor in bathroom - under/around shower??

I'm having a new bathroom fitted and bamboo flooring installed. (horizontal carbonised) The experienced floor fitter has no concerns about installing this floor type in the bathroom, and recommends installing the flooring before fitting the shower tray on top, but my plumber has concerns...

Damp rising from skirting but no signs of where from?

I first noticed a patch of damp on my living room wall over 6 months ago. The patch is next to the door to the kitchen, and where the wall meets the kitchen. Directly on the other side is a storage space off the kitchen, which is below the stairs. There are no signs of damp elsewhere. I drew...

    COLD MIXER TAP TRIGGERING BOILER

Thanks for all the responses. It's not a bungalow, the combi's a Worcester 24i and the pipework runs down from the boiler along just above the floor and then up to the taps about 6 feet away. I've now tried turning the tap off very slowly and it doesn't appear to trigger the combi when I...

    COLD MIXER TAP TRIGGERING BOILER

I've just had a new mixer tap fitted on kitchen sink and now our combi boiler is being triggered even when the tap is set to draw cold water. This should only happen when the tap is drawing from hot. It doesn't happen when the tap is only turned half on, only when it's on full. This never...
