    Replacing 3 port Mid-Position Valve

I think I will go for the long route round. Drain the system and then attempt it. The water tank collapsing doesn't sound good! Thanks to all for their advice.

    Replacing 3 port Mid-Position Valve

Thanks for the reply. I'm not too bad at DIY, so if there is an easier way, could you describe what it is? I have all the tools and the wiring of the valve is quite straight forward.

    Replacing 3 port Mid-Position Valve

Could anybody help me out on how to change the 3 port mid-position valve MAV-322 (Landis & Gyr)? The valve has failed. I've replaced the motor but the microswitches have now failed. What brand / make shall I replace it with. I have a look at the Honeywell v4073. How do I drain the heating system...

Peugeot 306 lights pulsate when idle

Thanks for the info. I was leaning more towards the alternator, as the battery seems to be okay. I'm going to drop it in to get it tested. I'm hoping to get a recon if it is the alternator. Should be a bit cheaper.

Peugeot 306 lights pulsate when idle

Hi all. I have a 5.5 year old 306 2.0 HDi. Recently the lights including the Dash have started to pulsate when idling. If I'm driving, it only does it when I take my foot off the accelerator for about a second. I checked the voltage of the battery without the engine started and it read 12.2...

    Ideal Classic FF230 Boiler

Hi The solenoid is failing on the gas valve and I need to replace it. Does anybody know where I can obtain the gas valve kit for the FF230 boiler either online or in the Leeds area. Anyone have the service manual for the FF230 boiler that can be downloaded? Thanks. :)

    Rat problem

Thanks for the tips on the way to put the traps. I'll get quite a few and then spread them around the loft. It's difficult to determine where they are coming from, as the sound travels through the walls etc. I'll find them though.

    Rat problem

Thanks for the replys. The rats always appear around 2am in the morning and stay until around 5am. I've put peanut butter on the trap, so I hope they like it! I'll get some more rat traps, as I never thought about placing 2 together, so they can't turn around without running into one of them...

    Rat problem

I've contacted the Local Council every time they appear. They put the poison down in the bags and then go away again. The rats come along eat the poison, go away for a few days then come back. I've run out of ideas now.

    Rat problem

Hi all I live in an end terraced house and have been having problems with rats in my loft every year. Originally they were coming up the internal soil stack. I sealed this up with loads of poison and galvanized wire mesh. This seem to stop them for a while. They have now found another way...

Ideal Classic FF230 Boiler not firing up correctly

I have an Ideal Classic FF230 boiler, which is a combo boiler for both the central heating and hot water. The problem is when the boiler hasn't been on for a few hours, it wont fire up correctly. When it switches on, the extractor fan starts and then there is a loud buzzing noise from the base...

Hot Water but no Central Heating

I've tried it with the CH on permanent. The light comes on the programmer but nothing happens. If you switch all the power off to the central heating and then switch back. Put the CH on permanent, it powers up and the heating starts up. Pump starts, boiler kicks to life. After around 1 minute...

Hot Water but no Central Heating

I just did a standard continuity test. This is the first time I have ventured into the depths of boilers and central heating systems, so I wasn't sure what to test for.

Hot Water but no Central Heating

Thanks for the replies. The main pump switches on and powers up. The water starts to pump round. It then all stops and the boiler switches off. I tested the stat with a test meter and when the heating is on for that short period, there is a reading on the tester. As soon as it switches off, then...

Hot Water but no Central Heating

Thanks for the reply. The hot water gets very hot. I checked the diverter valve and that's moving across OK. It's a 3 position valve. It moves to the middle when both the hot water and heating are on. I thought it might have been that. I'll swap the stat out and try that. Thanks for the help.

Hot Water but no Central Heating

Thanks for the reply. The radiators do actually start to get slightly warm within the 1 minute it is on. We kept switching it on and off and so the radiators do heat up. I thought it might have been the thermostat on the boiler but if it was, I doubt the hot water would work.

Hot Water but no Central Heating

Hi All I tried to help a friend out today with his heating system. but failed. Basically the hot water on the system is working perfectly but the central heating is not. If you switch the whole power off to the heating system and then back on again, then switch the central heating on, the...
