    It looks like the pump has given up as its not spinning at all and sounded awful. So is changing the heating pump a DIY job. If anyone has any advice or step by step procedure as I fear finding a plumber to get this sorted ASAP will be difficult this time of year. Thanks

    Thanks that appears to have done the trick and its now turning with all radiators getting hot. Hopefully thats sorted now! Thanks for all your help!

    Yes water in the header tank, certainly seems like getting excess air in the system. Bobbo - when you say remove front of pump - Do you mean unscrew the silver large screw plug in the front?
