potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

Changing the pcb didn't make any difference.... finally realised the programmer may be the problem. Replaced it and all is now well. I have spent Air pressure switch £50 (ebay) PCB £40 (reconditioned one from ebay) Programmer £36 ( B and Q) It has taken a lot of head scratching and...

potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

haven't done the flying lead... but have managed to trace a possible short circuit, one of the wires to the fan had a cut in its insulation, looks like wire had become squashed between the fan and the frame when it was installed. have taped the wire and boiler is working (sort of, well at...

potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

Hello again, I changed the fuses and the pump and fan were working (I know the pump was working because when I close the gate valve I could hear the water in the pipes). So I thought it was the air pressure switch, so I changed that and amazingly the boiler ignited. The a couple of minutes...

potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

ignition lead is crimped to the rear left of pcb as you stated. Previously a corgi eng put some gaffer tap on the chasis he said to revent it sparking to the wrong place. (I am on my 3rd corgi eng trying to fix the boiler.)

potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

I changed the fuses and the pump and fan started humming. The fuses haven't blown yet. I would like to understand what is going on with this boiler before calling an engineer again because I did pay a lot to get the pcb and air pressure switch changed only 18 months ago.

potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

I may have sowed some confusion.... The fuses (at the moment) are ok, the pump appears to be running and the fan is running, but there is no ignition spark. Sorry for the confusion

potterton profile 80e keeps blowing fuses

Hi my potterton profile 80 is quite unreliable, the PCB and air switch were replaced 18 months ago, and now it has stopped working again. The pump and fan are working but there is no ignition.... and the worrying thing is that the 1amp fuse on the pcb blew 3 times and the 3amp fuse in the...

thanks dave, The video is pretty short but now I think I know my collet from my guide! which is a start. I take on board the info about plunge depth and good quality bits. if anyones interested the video is quite instructive and for £3 (add another £5 for postage!) not bad value.

diy videos - where can I get them?

I have seen a router for £20 from here and B&Q sites and wonder if it is good enough to do the job? Also do I need a special size bit? also what does the collet do? also I saw a £30 worktop jig at my local builders merchant - what should I look for in a jig? as you can see I'm doing this as...
