    To be fair they must be thicker then as the entire estate we live on has a similar set up... Thanks - I now know what the strings are! The thing is they werent this bad before so there must be something I can do to limit the noise...

    Cracks at side of stair case

    We are just about to decorate but at the side of our staircase there is a crack in the plaster all the way up. Its a relatively new house and I cant see any obvious huge movement in the stairs. Is there something I could use to fill the crack before we paint? Do I need to get it re-plastered...
