Where I used to live, it was "The Constitutional Club". aka The Cons. Fine for hiring the function room for birthday parties when my kids were toddlers (and the Wye VALLEY HPA was very well kept), but the bit you walked through to get to the function room ......... depressing.

Spoons is a cheap as anywhere and I've honestly never seen any trouble in or outside one. I've seen plenty of trouble in more expensive establishments.

Luck / mistake is what separates teams at this level. On a football coaching course, the instructor opened with "football is a messy game, and full of mistakes".

Look back to when England won the rugby World Cup back in the early 2000s. No celebrating a win. No giddy press conferences. Because the goal was to win the thing, not "enjoy the ride". Perhaps his mental approach is win the lot, or it all counts for nothing.
