    Sorry, I had to walk away from it yesterday as it was getting on my nerves. So I left it on last night for around an hour, and it did eventually turn off, and I was able to turn it on again from the thermostat, but once I tried to turn it off it was having none of it. I've got it back on now...

    Sorry I meant the terminal strips in the above images. Theres no other thermostat. There was a gravity system in initially but that's long gone.

    I've just traced the blue wire back and it does indeed go to Neutral The Yellow wire that I have in 3 in the receiver goes to LR in the boiler. Boiler locations are L N Ls (empty) Ns (empty) LR

    I put the unused blue wire to N. I've tried disconnected that, and once I done that the whole system was dead.

    If you're letting him hang it then I too recommend using a boiler with a jig. You can pipe upto that yourself. Ya can then connect it all, and test.
