    Current experiences with car servicing?

I'll not tell the full story but our Honda HRV 19 plate started a wheel bearing drone on the way to France last month. I borrowed a Kwik Fit ramp and diagnosed the rear OS bearing to be the problem. Phoned local Honda dealer in Newcastle and asked them to sort it on my return. New bearing...

    Help to remove kitchen tap

As you realise, you don't want the tap body to turn - just in case a leak starts below! The brass parts will be well gummed up with limescale or whatever.......I use a cordless impact wrench and a deep drive socket. Do you know any mechanics that could help you out? John :)

    Tyre valve stem leak

All usable wheels need balancing. It is possible to diy them with gear to allow the wheel to rotate freely, 10g weights and multiples are needed. As for grot, post #51 shows an alloy wheel with a centre that needs cleaning.......a rotating wire brush on a drill is perfect. To remove the tyre...

    Tyre valve stem leak

As you are removing the lead weights....... What trick will you have for balancing? P.S Please remove all of the grot from the wheel inner! John :)

    Tyre valve stem leak

I have to say that Laser tool is quite natty! It maybe not quite as straightforward on a thick alloy rim but there's nothing to stop you trying! John

    Tyre valve stem leak

Best of luck wrestling with an 18" tyre then, if the opposite bead doesn't let go! Balancing is done to within 10g which is usually quite enough. Enjoy! John :)

    Tyre valve stem leak

Foxy was dead right......as were others! You'll only shift the valve from inside the rim - they are cut away. Any attempt at valve removal will almost certainly destroy it. Mechanical bead breakers may work (less so with low aspect ratio tyres) but unless you can reseat the tyre on exactly the...

    Tyre valve stem leak

Best to return to the tyre services people as fiddling with a valve stem has a high chance of it ripping. Pushing the valve back through the rim is next to impossible. John

Anyone Know Timing Belt Intervals On Scudo?

According to Autodata, check at 36000 and replace at 72000 miles, or 5 years. 3 1/2 hr to change it. Regards John :)

    Rust converter

Stay well clear of Nitromors! I think you'd get good advice (free) from a local bodyshop or the Chipsaway people.......they've seen all this before. John :)

    Rust converter

Before you get stuck in, consider using a G3 compound and one of the polishing mop kits from Toolstation or whatever. These work well using a slow speed drill. John :)

Bolts for Tipo timing belt change

As above twice.......look for the truth marks on the engine mounting and all will be well. Have you got the tensioner kit yet? The last one I did came with it's own tensioning two pronged key but I can't remember what size engine it was. If it has a spring loaded tensioner, check out Youtube...

    Ready to use coolant

That's correct - I've just come home from a Normandy beaches visit and I noticed at the Omaha museum the trucks had Prestone stencilled on their radiators. John :)
