    Thanks - I didn't know that! John :)

    Painting over Hammerite Paint

Hammerite is Xylene based - or used to be! John :)

Mysterious leak from plastic fuel tank.

I've had rodent incidents chewing through plastic water pipe, my ride on mower seat (parked outside for one night), primer bulbs (Citroen diesel) , bonnet sound proofing mats and a deck chair - so I guess anything is possible! John :)

What vehicle(s) do you drive on a regular basis?

To be fair, I only use the on board computer for said Bipper and that says between 59 and 61 MPG and always has done. It has a Fiat engine, 1.3 turbo diesel and it is very swift......it will always be more economical than the 1.6 which is a cracking engine in itself. The Bipper is very much a...

    Painting over Hammerite Paint

Hammerite is best used as a top coat, but the two colours will adhere to another......observe the correct drying time for best results. Cellulose paints will attack Hammerite in the unlikely event of you using them. John :)

    Gas or induction hob

Personally it's induction every time for me......simple cleaning and as much temperature control as gas. We have a Caple at home and a Bosch in the holiday gaff.......to my surprise the Caple unit is more controllable but both have been completely reliable. You can't use non ferrous pans...

What should I do wit this

After 7 months and all seems fine, go right ahead with the cosmetic refurb in your own time. John

What should I do wit this

If there was a genuine issue with a leaking loo previously then hopefully the problem has gone now. How long ago was this? Do check the pan connector on the loo back of course - some kitchen roll is ideal. We sympathise with the stress and trauma you are going through, and hope you will return...

Replacing inner tie rods .. are rhey extremely tight or am i going wrong way with spanner ?

Track rods have a conventional RH thread (as far as I have experienced.......there's no need for anything else) so in the picture the spanner is turned anti clockwise - or down from there, if you will. They are always very tight and may have locking compound on....can you extend the spanner with...

    Alloys Scuff Repair

That's a brilliant price! All I can remember about the job I sent away - 19 plate MX5, Black coating with some areas shiny. Maybe that had something to do with the price. John :)

    Alloys Scuff Repair

I guess it depends on the size of the piggy bank...... One alloy (turned finish - forget the correct term for them) came out at £180.........tyre off, old paint off, repair done, powder coated, tyre on and balanced. Chipsaway do a fair enough job, leaving the tyre on. Perhaps a photo would...

    Alloys Scuff Repair

There's a good chance of making things worse.....I'd be contacting a ChipsAway firm I think. John :)

What should I do wit this

There seems to be quite a lot of damp there and the worst thing you could do is to cover it up. Investigation needed! Possible drain leaks and maybe other issues. John :)

Hyundai Plate Compacter (Wacker) HYCP9070 Info Thread

I'd guess that this is a Korean engine, manufactured under licence in China and then bolted onto a Chinese copy of a European plate.......very common! Still, it looks like a good piece of kit and should serve you well with the odd service. I doubt if the importers will get back to you though...

    Painting steelies

Yes, that will be just fine. Apply the primer as soon as possible after the blasting. John :)

    Painting steelies

A good move to get them blasted! A quality etching primer will be much better than ordinary primer - I use rattle cans for this. John :)

Selling a car that's been in storage for a year

I wish someone would give me a Jazz hybrid......! You may be pleasantly surprised! I don't know if these cars use a separate 12v battery or simply draw from the propulsion battery but the thing is to get it going. Maybe Newcastle Garage Services in Brunswick could advise, if Vertu Honda prices...

2003 Toyota Rav 2 Head Gasket.

This engine has a timing chain rather than a belt......not the end of the world but much more difficult than just slipping a belt out of the way. I'd do a fair bit of research before jumping in for this one. John :)
