    Joining SWA

Thats what I think I will do. I think some of the 2 core sheath has indeed melted, hopefully only only in the 2 foot where the outer has melted though, which will be cut out.

    Joining SWA

Yes they were my initial thoughts. It was suggested to me that cutting out the melted part, then seeing what damage was left. If no more damage then if there is enough to pull some along (there is 3-4 foot of excess inder the other end of the decking) and epoxy kit it together. If it means...

It is not buried in soil. It is under the decking.

    Joining SWA

I had 10m of 10mm SWA installed last year, into the garden by a sparky. This afternoon, there was a small fire (caused by a cigatette!!) that had burned the outer sheath of the SWA. About 2 feet in the middle. There is enough SWA to cut the damaged part out move it along (there is about 3-4 feet...

Hi, I am rotovating my garden this weekend, and levelling the ground. I have fences along the right of the house and across part of the back (a garage is across the rest of the back) I want to get the garden as level as I can, and need to go off the existing decking. The fences across the...

    Hot Tub.

Not that hard, its quite straight forward to lay some armoured cable from the isolation box to the service cabinet, under the decking. Why no I need to pay an electrician to do that  I understand why regs get changed, and quite rightly too, but it is going too far, soon I will have...

    Hot Tub.

Ok my apologies, I called the sparky that did the work in 2005 and he informed the LABC on my behalf. So again, apologies. I have called him and discussed the move etc, and I am putting the armoured cable down, under the decking, putting the isolation box on the garage, that is all. He is...

    Hot Tub.

The house (garden) it is going into is very similar to my old one 1 mile away, built in the same year. If it was a very different house, years older etc I wouldn't even try myself... Yes RCD is required, the same as the old house, I already have a new one. I will obviously get it checked...

    Hot Tub.

Really? Why do the council have to be informed? I will replace the glands, there is absoloutly nothing wrong with the armoured cable, it has been under raised decking, and cost over £200.... I thought I could do the work and get it inspected by a sparky holding the right cert... What a...

    Hot Tub Base..

I am moving my hot tub from my old house to my new. It was on a concrete base, and need to make a base of some sort where I am moving to. The base was made at the old house as part of a bigger job a few years ago, so I don’t know the actual cose of the base alone. I have been quoted £350 to...

    Sink waste....

I have tiles my bathroom floor, so therefore the toilet and sink are raised now. I have a problem with the basin waste only all the other connections are fine. My waste comes out of the wall and then has a 90 degree bend on it obviously facing up, ready for the S trap to connect to the sink...

    Shower door holes..

the frames go into the wall ok, its the ones that hold the door steady. I drilled them and then used the screws, they were sooo tight I then went with the next size drill bit, but now 3 of the 6 are too big, and the door moves inside the wall frame. I was hoping to be able to bung the holes a...
