Does this look like a lead supply pipe?

Thanks for the replies guys. I just used a magnet on the pipe. It did not stick to the water pipe circled red, but stuck to the gas pipe circled green. Is this unexpected and bad news?

Does this look like a lead supply pipe?

Hi All, Please could someone give me an idea if this water supply pipe is lead? The house is in Scotland and was built approx late 60's. It is copper after the 90 degree bend but more a grey pipe up to the bend, silverish underneath when scratched. I intend to get a water sample checked also...

    Embossed Wallpaper type match

Hi, I need to do a patch repair on a large roof after a leaking pipe came through a downstairs ceiling. I have a picture of the blown pattern, would any of the decorators happen to know what this might be called and where to get it if possible? Thanks in advance.

Sime meridian he30 fully modulating or not?

In the last few months there have been a few issues with this boiler. 1. Central heating pressure keeps dropping with no evident leaks that I can see, unless it's under the floor downstairs 2. Hot temp at taps and shower fluctuating from hot to cold then back again. You can hear the boiler...

Sime meridian he30 fully modulating or not?

Ian, thank you for my reply. I have just moved into the house, i think it has a standard mixer shower which is a nightmare to achieve a stable temp. Any slight movement on the handle and it goes from hot to cold and vice versa. The taps seem fine so I assume the boiler is o. K. Do you think this...

    8mm microbore

Thank you, yes i did the calcs for the size of room and this new radiator is very slightly oversized when compared with the calculation. Do you know whether the 8mm feed will be an issue assuming the runs from the manifolds are not excessive?

    8mm microbore

Hi, I have an old imperial (approx) 1756 x 600 single with fins radiator which i plan on replacing for a type 21 radiator 1600 x 600 and using extensions to allow for the difference in pipework centres. My worry is that the 8mm microbore feeding the radiator is going to be too small to properly...

    white upvc trickle vents

Hi, Due to damage on a upvc window around the existing trickle vent I was looking for a slighly bigger one that I have at present which would cover the damage. I am looking for something around 450mm long and 35mm wide to cover the damage. Does anyone know if you can get something in this size...

    Hybrid alarm advice

Hi, I am looking to install an alarm system in a new build bungalow. I can get cables to pir's/bellbox and remote keypads at front and back door. it is going to be awkward to wire to the door switches neatly without affecting decoration so was looking for recommendations for an alarm system...

3/4 inch to 8mm trv change

I am wondering if this would be a straight replacement. Im sure the inlet that accepts the 8mm pipe and fitting was stamped 1/2 " so with the correct head would this be suitable? I cannot see if its a 3/4 to 3/4, so if it was would i just use a reducer on the inlet? Thanks again

3/4 inch to 8mm trv change

Thanks Terry. I removed the head and the pin seems free, infact i could pull it out in my hand? I just thought if I could replace the valve it would rule it out. We had the trv off and with the head fully open we were struggling to blow tgrough it. The radiator is slightly heating but very...

Hi there, ive just been up to my rental property to an old radiator thats not heating up. I suspect the trv is faulty and tried to replace with a screwfix one, however it is 15 x 15mm. Can someome tell me if I can purchase a straight replacement for this valve to save changing the radiator or...

Changing standard radiator to vertical. 10mm speedfit big enough?

Hi, Looking to change a large double radiator (1600 x 600) to a double vertical designer one which measures 1800 x 472 with a btu of 10333. Will this be a straight swap (obviously relocating the pipe centres) or does the additional height have an effect on the flow/heat? Thanks in advance for...
