miele t294c heat

i have an aging Miele T294 C that refuses to heat. Same symptoms on automatic programmes as on the timed programmes - after about 3-5 minutes the alarm buzzer sounds and then the Machine iron LED repeatedly flashes. Just wondering if it's had its day and I need to look for a replacement, or...
